We are planning a stay at Port Orleans French Quarter during September. We will have the standard Disney refrigerator in the room, but I don't remember it having a freezer. I am looking for breakfast suggestions to do in the room before we head to a park since we won't be on the free dining plan. We're planning on driving, so packing space is not an issue.

1 - we could bring milk & have cereal (boring, though)
2 - we could bring a toaster for Eggo waffles, I guess (questions - does Disney allow appliances? Would Eggo waffles would store well in the refrigerator or in a small cooler?)
3 - we could do muffins & fruit

Anyone else have a suggestion?

We brought a small hot pot with us. In that you could do oatmeal or even scrambled eggs if you want to be creative! It was good to have in the evenings too for soup or mac n cheese etc. We also always had poptarts, they don't need to be toasted. We had the basic cereal and muffins also.

When I think of "hot pot", I think of something you heat up water in. What kind of unit are you talking about that you could cook scrambled eggs in - sound intriguing!

We are planning peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for our upcoming trip. It's great with coffee, we can always get the kid to eat one, and just the jelly needs the fridge, leaving plenty of room for milk and water. It seems to give us really good staying power when we've done the PB&J in the past. In fact a PB&J along with a  can keep us going for hours.

I understand what you mean - at home we usually put peanut butter on our EGGO waffles. Thanks for the suggestion!

i take apples and pb and eat half the apple w/ 2 tbsp of peanut butter for breakfast. the other half goes in the backpack for later. we also take pop tarts, and sometimes bread for toast (pop food court has a great toaster!) which we can put pb on. we also bring along cups of applesauce, bananas, nutrigrain bars and atkins bars (beware, atkins bars melt in summer in a backpack-learned that the hard way!). breakfast in the room while we get ready saves TONS of time! have a great trip! :)

We usually bring instant oatmeal. The kids like it a lot, it is fast and it has plenty of fiber to help make up for the lack of fiber in most Disney meals. We bring paper bowls and spoons and buy mugs (we get mugs anyway) and use our mugs to get hot water.

If you're not particular about toasted bagels, consider a bag of mini bagels. We put cream cheese, jelly, peanut butter, or plain butter on them for breakfast-on-the-go. One year (pre-kids) I was on a big bagel-making kick and I made peanut butter-chip bagels that we wolfed down every morning.

The French Quarter has coffee pots in the room, so you can heat up water for oatmeal in that. I use the coffee cups to put it in.

For breakfast we have:
oatmeal
cereal
fruit
mini bagels with cream cheese or PB

Then I always pack snacks for the parks like granola bars, pretzels with cheese dip, goldfish crackers... things like that to eat mid morning.

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I like the way you guys think!

If anyone else has any ideas, keep them coming!

A LOT of camping stores have freeze dried meals, that are now pretty good tasting!

usually all you need is hot water.

they have breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Yogurt with uncooked oatmeal (the one minute kind) and fruit. Mix it all together and it is yummy. That's what we like in the warm weather. Strawberries, blueberries, bananas, etc. all work well and there is no cooking involved. You get dairy/protein and fiber to start the day.

Are you driving down? I love hardboiled eggs in the morning and they are easy. I'd probably make them at home, though I think you can buy them in some places. I'd also get donuts (always a treat!) and other pastries or muffins and fruit. I'd also grab some cereal bars or Fiber One bars as grab and go breakfasts.

And if you have a coffeemaker in your room, I'd bring your own coffee because the Diney coffee is bad. Another good drink option might be those Horizon organic shelf-stable milks. They don't need refrigeration. My son loves the vanilla flavor as a treat.

DH and I take cereal bars wherever we go! Simple, easy to eat on the go, travels well, and doesn't have to be refrigerated! We also take cans of pringles for the room because they don't get smushed on the way there!

I'm curious....Why aren't you on the free dining? Is that too personal?
Is there a better code to use during that time?
thanks,

We have done
cold cereal and milk
oatmeal (can use water from coffee pot or microwave)
cereal bar
oatmeal squares
Gogurts or other yogurts
fruits
leftovers from previous nights dinner
carnation instant breakfast
toaster pastries if you bring toaster

We were on the dining plan last time, but preferred to use our credits for lunch or dinner (and the snack for a soda during the heat of the day) than to use them for breakfast. That's just how we did it, though. It may be what the OP is trying to do as well. I also love the time savings!

We had some extra counter services meals (long story) and DH's parents and my parents used those for breakfasts, or they used snack credits. DH and I would get ready, and then eat in the car on the way. A few minutes of extra sleep!

Our Disney breakfast staples always include hazelnut coffee (we bring our own filters), juice boxes, cold cereal, granola bars, breakfast bars, applesauce/fruit cups. We purchase milk at the sundries shop in whichever resort we are staying. At the beginning of the trip, we usually have leftover grapes, apples and cut up block cheeses (which we often eat for lunch in the car on our two travel days.) Usually, my husband will fetch bagels/cr. cheese one morning to "mix things up"...and we usually have one no park day when we'll go out for breakfast.

They could always go with my "got a page and have to go to work" standby:

bad 7/11 coffee and a pop tart!

We make eggs in the food court microwave - put 1/2 cup egg beaters in a plastic container - add whatever you like - we do ham or bacon bits and cheese - micro for about 3 minutes - cooks up like an omlette - then toast bread or bagels - easy, filling and cheap for a hot breakfast. I buy the lunch meat that comes in resealable/reuseable containers before our trip , take them along and throw them away after we use them.
