Need ideas!

I'm a young mom and my boyfriend and I are planning our first solo Disney vacation. I've been to Disney in the past without my parents, as an underager (under 21), but now I'm over 21 as is my boyfriend and for the first time he is going without the oldest of our brood. We need some 'GROWN UP' ideas for what to do on our trip. My mom suggested the Wishes dessert party and the spa. I'm into the desert party, but not the spa idea. Neither of us are really into others touching us. I'll take any ideas anyone would like to give!

Well, what are you into? there is a TON of stuff to do around the resort.

Knowing what your interests are might help us recommend ideas that you'd enjoy.

In the evening, go to the Boardwalk resort and spend time at Jellyrolls. It's a piano bar and always a lot of fun. There's also House of Blues at Down Town Disney. They have some terrific performers there.

Thanks! Those are some great ideas, we both enjoy drinking (not excessively of course!) so any of the bars would be a good idea, are there any that are particularly good? I've asked him about Cirque and he says he'd rather do something else, I've seen it before and really liked it so I know if we don't find anything else that's an option. Do you know where I could research these things? I've looked on the Disney website but I guess I feel like I'm not getting enough information to make a decision.

Thanks! I've never thought of those. I've only ever gone with my parents and a boyfriend who wasn't into that scene so maybe this will be a good option for this trip

If you like sushi, head over to Kimono's where they turn the place into a karaoke bar after 9pm.

As for great bars..I can recommend many! the bar at Bluezoo (excellent mixologists and super bar food - oysters!), La Cava del Tequila (EPCOT), Tambu Lounge (Poly), Dawa Bar (AK - have a drink, watch the performers), Ragland Road (DTD, nightly music)...those are just a few.

One of our favorite adult activites is just finding a good drink, a bench and some good old people watching as only Disney can provide.

I love stopping by La Cava in Mexico, just because I'm a fan of strong drinks. And they are quite tasty too. Outside of that, i honestly don't tend to spend a lot of time at the bars on property... despite what others might tell you.

The Tune In Lounge at MGM is an exception. I've spent a lot of time there, but it's mostly due to local friends than the fact they know the bartenders.

i have heard good things about Dawa in AK, And Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk though.


Depending on your time and budget, you could also make a trip to Citywalk over at Universal. At night, you can think of it as Universal's version of Pleasure Island.....only with bars/clubs that are open, play music, and have a clearly defined future. (Can you tell I'm still aggrevated at the decision to close Pleasure Island's clubs without some sort of plan?). I spent a night there this past trip hopping from club to club and honestly, I can't say there were any that weren't enjoyable. Each of them I enjoyed immensely. You could also look into attending a Blue Man Group show while there. (your Blue Man Ticket would include cover for the clubs). It's something different than Cirque and maybe he might be more inclined to see that show than Cirque.


As for places to research.... There are plenty of great sites for information about the resorts and things to do. Just because of where we are, I'd possibly recommend starting with WDWInfo. Allears is another popular one that can provide a lot of detail for you.

I haven't been to the World since December, 2007, but one thing that intrigues me are hotel tours. A particularly good one is that of Wilderness Lodge, which is probably my favorite resort. It's free, but you need to register in advance. It begins at 9:00 am.

Forgive my ignorance, but hwere is Bluezoo? I think that we're definitely planning on some EPCOT World Showcase people watching. I'm looking forward to it!
