Need ideas

My family (me, DH and DS16) will be travelling to California for Spring Break the week before Easter. We plan on spending about 5 days in DL/CA, but would like some recommendations for other things to do in the area...beaches, things to see or places to go.

DS16 has chosen a bunch of places where he just HAS to eat (Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, Pink's Hotdogs, Mam Cozza's, Gaucho Village, Philippes, etc)

I'm just looking for a few "touristy" things to do.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is your son a big Thrill Ride person? Maybe a trip to Knott's? My brother was down in So. Cal awhile ago with friends, and they did Universal Studios and The Price is Right.....

Are you looking for touristy things to do around your DS's must eat list? If so....

There is a Roscoe's in Hollywood, close to Pink's. So, you could tour around Hollywood for a part of a day, maybe have an early lunch at Pinks and dinner at Roscoe's? FYI -- just the thought of both of those in a single day makes me want to have a heart attack...but to be 16 again....

Philippe's is right next to Chinatown and close to Union Station, so you could check out those as well as downtown, while you're there. You son is right, btw, you can't beat Philippes.

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the other places, but I would think you would definitely want to check out the beach, probably either Santa Monica or Venice (Venice has the original Hot Dog on a Stick, if that would make the food tour list ).

Thanks for the replies! Keep them coming!! DS is a thrill ride kind of guy and would love another amusement park. That's a great idea.

He would also probably love touring Hollywood while working up an appetite for the places where he feels he "must" eat.
