This year, my sister's trip will overlap mine by one night. We're looking for something the two families (10 people total) can do together.

Two problems: my kids :)

One of mine is terrified of characters in costumes-- had a complete meltdown last year and refused to enter Chef Mickeys on our first night. Not exactly an auspicious start to a trip I had spent an entire year planning.

Another of my kids is terrified by loud noises: ie, fireworks. Last year she slept through Wishes (in a stroller on Main St, believe it or not) and was so terrified by Innovations that my husband took her into Norway to work on a craft at the Kidspot there.

My sister's 3 daughters (ages 7, 9 and 14) are up for pretty much anything. Both families are staying at the Poly with parkhoppers in early August.

Any suggestions??

How about dinner at 1900 Park Fare? For dinner its Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Druscilla. When DS was little he wouldn't go anywhere near a costume character, but loved Cinderella!

You could see the Spectromagic Parade (if its on for the night you're there).

Another option is for everyone to go to Downtown Disney, have dinner there and go to Disney Quest.

Hoop De Doo Review

Ohanas for dinner where they have the coconut races and then watch the Electrical Light Parade and Wishes from the beach at the Poly.

Maybe the fireworks wont be too loud there for you child.

You could all go to the Hoop Dee doo Review for eveming dinner and then head over to the Chip and Dale Marshmallow roast at the Fort wilderness campground ( if you like the outdoors). They also have a wagon ride there that looked fun! HDDR was a great time:)

I'd do HDDR too; we all LOVED it!

This is a little OT, but my daughter is also terrified of loud noises. I bought her Peltor noise reducing headphones on Amazon.com that she wore during our entire trip; she was smiling and laughing during Wishes fireworks, which was a first for her (fireworks last year on 4th of July here at home made her dissolve into a sobbing puddle on the ground). When she couldn't wear the headphones (on Space Mountain), she coped by covering her ears with her hands.

Have a great time!!

I'm on the Hoop Dee Doo Review bandwagon too. My DS had noise issues, but this one was okay with him. It can be a little loud, but it is music so it isn't startling. Its fun for all ages. When our group of of 15 went, we had ages 66 down to 15 months.

If you overlap for one night, you are technically a grand gathering, that has some "special" things that you can do just for GG, I would look into that as an option, there is a safari and dinner with live show at AKL for one,
Good Luck and have a great trip!

I think we're going to do it kind of low key.

Maybe dinner at the Kona Cafe, then Wishes and the Electrical Water parade from the Poly beach.

But I will look into the GG info, thanks!

I know that you are all at the Poly, and your plans that you just posted sound nice to me!
I did think of one thing that was fun, and certainly lends itself to a larger group; you could all go to the Beach Club, and go to Beaches and Cream and share a Kitchen Sink, ten people may just polish it off! It would make for some fun pictures too!

While at the Beach Club Boardwalk area, you can rent Surreys and take a ride all around the lake. You could have "races", safely of course! One of the best laughs we had all week one time was getting that surrey up the hill to the bridge! You will work off your ice cream for sure! Illuminations can be partially viewed at a distance, so that the sound is not so frightening. There are also a few street preformers at the Boardwalk for the younger ones (and young at heart) and a walk up pizza window.
This sounds like a lot of activity, but really is low key, and spontaneous.

We will be at the WL in Aug too. Hope there is no Hurricane THIS year!
