We just bought in to DVC. We are recieving 150 from 2006 and in Sept another 150 points for 07. We decided to buy DVC instead of planning a honeymoon(non disney).

Does anyone have suggestions of where we can go(non disney) using the points we have? We are open to as far as dates go. I would live to go to Hawaii, europe or cruise but I doubt we have enough points.

I am trying to understand and learn this whole point process.

You probably do not have enough points to do the cruise - although you can "borrow" from the next year. We did Atlantis in the Bahamas last summer and Hawaii the year before. Don't remember the points.

You should receive a booklet from Disney with maps of the world and the US with all the vacation spots color coded - Disney and non-Disney. I notice you are from PA - there are a couple of places in the Poconos you can trade for. If that's too close, there are some places in the Smokey Mountains (around Gatlinburg). We've stayed at a couple of hotels in New York City on points. In the Ozarks there is a lodge near Branson, Mo - can't think of name ("Big Mountain Lodge" or similar). Also places on Mackinac (sp?) Island in Michigan. I have a friend who has gone to Brazil, Switzerland, Spain and Rome on points. YOU NEED THE BOOKLET. It really just depends on where you want to go (beach, mountain, city) and how long.

Not sure why you don't want to do Disney - for example, Hilton Head is not "Mickey Mouse Disney" - it is a very nice resort. Vero Beach is also nice and not "MMD" although it is not my favorite resort. You get your best value (aside from not having to pay the $95 outside fee) staying in Disney.

Is Atlantis back on the list? I thought that fell through. Anyone ever gone to Paris and how was it?
