:bride: Here's what's going on. My friend is getting married in a couple of months and I am one of her bridesmaids. Her very good friend (who would be the maid of honor if the bride didn't have a sister) is throwing a shower for her. The shower was originally supposed to be yesterday, but this girl (nice though she is) is horribly unorganized and a procrastinator, so she never sent out any invitations or anything. My friend (the bride) asked me to contact this girl to see what I could do to help out with the shower planning. I sent her an email 2 weeks ago that she has never returned. The only reason I know that she wants me to do the invitations is b/c my friend (the bride) told me the other day.

So....now I have to come up with around 40 bridal shower invites and I'm still a starving college student, so there isn't much fundage available. As much as I love my friend, I'm not able to drop $20 or $30 on these invites that should have been taken care of by the other girl weeks ago.

Any ideas for cute and inexpensive bridal shower invitations would be very much appreciated. :bride:

can you do e-vites, the on line invitations? Thats free - otherwise if you want paper invites, try going to a craft store, they sell blocks of blank cards, esp white - get a nice pen, some bridal stickers, & create them yourself...

The bride prefers paper invitations. I like your idea about craft stores! I was thinking about stopping by one tomorrow to see what they have along those lines, I'll have to make sure to do that now. :)

So you have a computer? You could print up invites on nice paper. Just fold the invite in half or a third with a staple (or something nicer) so you don't need an envelope, and then put the address and stamp on the outside.

When I threw a bridal shower a few years ago, I did my own invites. I went out and got stationary with a cute border in the theme of the party (we did a tropical luau theme and found stationary with that type of border). I got the paper at Party City, only because I couldn't find anything in a pack at Target or Wal-mart, but it wasn't expensive there either. Maybe 5 sheets for $1? I knew how many we were inviting and got those, plus 5 extra.

I created a poem for the invitation and did it all up in Word. I then printed it on the stationary.

I bought a package of assorted color envelopes that went with the tropical theme and folded the invites and put them in there. I did the addressing by hand because I can do some pretty handwriting.

I got lots of comments on how cute the invites were and it cost me a total of maybe $10, if that.

Excellent suggestion!

I would make them on the computer (this way it is creative and more personal) and buy the envolopes from the dollar store. You won't probably be able to find the invitation size envolopes by themselves and you don't want to spend a lot and go to staples to buy them, so buy the dollar store invites and and use their envelopes for your invites.

A popular thing to do around here is to buy a piece of scrapbook paper that matches your theme. Buy a piece of vellum paper- depending on your other choice in paper the simpler the vellum the better. Use Word to type up your information for the shower, you can get four invites per a page, in the font and color you want your invites to have. Print the information up on the vellum. Stack the scrapbook page on the bottom, put the vellum on top of that, at the top punch two horizontally at the top of the pages, thread a piece of ribbon into the holes and you can either type a small bow, or just pull it through the holes and leave it. You can buy the envelopes at a scrapbook store. They really do turn out cute and they are super easy to do. I hope I explained it clearly enough. You can make about 30 invites for alot less than ten dollars. If you have question PM and I'll see if I can find a picture for you.
