I want to give something extra to the crew members that go "above and beyond" mainly the people that work with the kids. How many workers are there in the kids program.I think the phone cards are nice. Should they be international cards so they can call home? What type of cards work at the ports you visit? Any suggestion of additional gifts that were appreciated by the crew? Thanks

I picked up Walmart gift cards to hand out. There is a Walmart near the port, I also found out there is a Target near the port as well. The gift cards would be good for personal items that the crew members would need.

They should definitely be international cards, since the crew members are typically from around the world. Also, be aware that the number of minutes listed on the card will be for U.S. minutes. For international use (especially from a payphone), it will be much less.
We also like to bring Florida lottery tickets for the crew.

Just curious, when you get the gift cards and phone cards, what denomination do you get them in? We're going in Sept 4n Wonder and I don't want to get too little and insult them but on the other hand, I don't want to go overboard either. Thanks

I picked up several $10.00 Walmart gift cards, just to have them handy. Not sure if my DD is going to be using Common Grounds or not, but I wanted to have some handy. I can always add them to the tip envelopes as an extra thank you.

why give Walmart or Target cards? in essence you are telling them where they have to shop. what if they don't need/want anything at Walmart or Target? what if they can't get off the ship at Port Canaveral? What if they don't have any means to get to the Target or Walmart?

if the gift card is what you're looking for, so you don't give cash, then the better choice are the AMEX
/Visa gift cards - accepted anywhere the cards are accepted - whether in the US or anywhere in the world.

What if? What if? What if? That's a lot of What if's!!!

I need to send a thank you note to a few crew members. Does anyone have the address?

No address here sorry jlawall.

I think CASH is the perfect thank you gift you could give. Put it in a thank you note or card and give it to them on the last day of the cruise that way they can't refuse it not that they would. We were told that went the Kids Club counselors get money they pool it together and have a party. After all the hours these people work they need to have some fun of their own.

Maybe they are the crew members that lady in Dave_from_Marietta's post was referring to who have the orgies.......LOL

Andy~~
I see someone took their toys and went home for a time out. :teeth:

Hi Stimpy.

Yes, it's a rough choice - insult them or go overboard...

After spending that much time with my family, I may want to go overboard myself! LOL

Thx Andy, that's the address I was looking for!

slyhubby.....there is a crew bus that takes the CM's to Wal-Mart and some other stores on Port Canaveral days. We have seen them on the bus and in Wal-Mart and after talking to several of them onboard we were told that they primarily do all their shopping for personal items like, toiletries, CD's stereos, etc. at Wal-Mart. Yes, I am sure there are some CM's who do not get the chance to disembark such as the room stewards (due to the turn around time time in getting the cabins ready). But, Wal- Mart cards do seem like a good idea for an above and beyond gift.

Hey Stimpy....
"After spending that much time with my family, I may want to go overboard myself! LOL!!!" You are cracking me up! But, then I guess those staterooms (even if they are bigger than industry standard...) do enforce a lot of family togetherness!!! :D
