Ok we leave in about 6 weeks now and we (me and the kids) need to get our butts moving somehow to condition ourselfs for the miles of walking. Although we will be taking a double stroller I want to go with out a carrier for the youngest and keep dh from holding my middle dd... He actully sode in line for Soarin for 1 hour and 30 min while DD 5 (4 at the time) slept in his arms... sure enough as soon as they were ready to get on the ride she woke up got measured (she was 43" at the time but i guess since he was holding her they wanted to check totally understandable) and LOVED the ride went back on with me LOL anyways....

It still really cold outside well tomorrow - tuesday it will be OK in the mid 40s but for he most part it will be cold till about 2-3 weeks before we leave. Any ideas on stuff we can do in side for conditioning???

Thanks!

Some malls offer walking times earlier in the morning before the stores open. You can look into it. Also, a trip to the local zoo, even in colder weather where at times you can go inside might be a good idea. At least you can say to your kids, it will be warmer in Florida.:) We personally don't do a thing beforehand, but this isn't our first trip so the kids know what to expect. We see what we want then take breaks midday and hit the pool or chill around the resort. Then go back in the late afternoon or early evening. This way the kids won't be so tired. Another suggestion is to do the two bigger parks earlier into your trip when the kids have more energy. AK is huge and you might want to treat EPCOT as two parks and spend two days there. (I don't know how long your trip will be.) Unless you are limited in time, doing EPCOT in one day is crazy. We like to meander through each country sampling a food or drink or listening to some music. Treating EPCOT as two parks will cut down on your walking. We also have one early night and one late day just to give our feet some rest.

I had some friends who motivated themselves for a vacation in a fun way. They bought a map and highlighted from their home town to the place they were going. Every minute of exercise was 1 mile. They figured out how many miles they were traveling and mapped their exercise on the map. It was fun for them to see their progress and really motivated them to keep it up. You could do a "March into Disney" map. Whatever you do, have fun!

Did you really wait 1 1/2 hours in line for Soarin'? Why not use Fastpasses?

Sorry...I don't have any indoor conditioning tips. But when we did our walking "training" with the kids pre-trip we'd tell them to pretend it was park opening and we were heading to Dumbo. They kept up a pretty good pace LOL!

If it is cold and crummy out, I would say hit a mall and just walk and walk. Any indoor sports would work well too for building endurance. Maybe play dancing games with the kids?

If DD5 is in the middle, does that mean you will have a stroller for a younger one? I have seen strollers with flip down seats or little buggy board attatchments that may help with all the walking.

My own observation with my DD who has pretty good endurance for the parks was that in the middle of the day, she just got tired from all the excitement so we chose to do some of the shows in the middle of the afternoon and that seemed to help.

We didn't plan the park day well and didn't get the land till about 1:00 and the fast passes were gone, since we were able to use baby swap i waited with dd 2 year at the time while dh took dd4 and ds6 on sand by line for 90 min wait... i then took the switch pass with the kids ... oh well it's the LONGest we've ever waited for a disney attraction ever! LOL

As for using malls ect I live in very rual area and i'd have to dirve 35-60 min one way to the nearest mall, i've been using the school to get inshape and walking there but ya know the kids kinda have to be inclass durring that time! LOL we are about 1/2 mile from the school and i plan to start walking to too as soon as it's warm in to pick them up anyways...
