We need some ideas for games or crafts for a class party. DD does not want a "babyish" party. Does anyone have any ideas?:lovestruc

Is this for something you are doing at home, or is it a classroom party?

My 2nd grade DD gets to wear her pajamas on Valentine's Day, and the kids are really looking forward to it.

Our 5th grade class party is right around lunch. We're just ordering pizza and letting the kids swap cards and visit. Some parents are bringing in fruit/veggies and maybe some cookies or cupcakes, but nothing extravagant.

This is how the kids wanted it and they are all very excited. For Christmas the room moms went all out with crafts, games, stories, etc. It was just way too much. At this age, they just want to hang out and not have to do work for a day.

Yes, I think I will schedule some time for them to just socialize. But, I think the teacher would like 1 game or craft.

How about Bingo?

Or you could make some word searches or cross word puzzles and give prizes or something.

That isa tough age bc they are getting out of the young kid stuff.

Spin the Bottle?

I don't think we played 7 Minutes in Heaven until Jr. high, so I'm not suggesting that one.

Well, at least she won't think of that as babyish. (I hope there will be boys there, too, if they are going to play this.)

Of course, I'm just joking, as I hope the quoted poster is as well. I really don't think romantic games should be encouraged at that age.

We did the Bingo for the Winter party and the kids loved it. I got a few prizes that were under a dollar. The kids ask for me to bring it back for the next party. Along with pizza, vegs and drinks.

As for the Spin the Bottle, the PP wasn't far off. Some 5th graders are doing that if not more!

Be lucky you are allowed a party. At my daughters elem. school, they stop parties at 3rd grade. See, the testing scores are more important for the 4th and 5th graders than 3rd graders.

Plus, the kids do think its babyish since there are some "couples" that "go out". Yes, my daughter is in 5th grade!

Famous couples.....you give a name and they think of the famous partner.....you could do historical figures and TV/Movie stars.

Valentine trivia....colors of roses and meaning, St. Valentine, etc. (I am sure if you google you could find a fun valentine quiz that is 5th grade level.

Mad libs....make up one of your own using a Valentine story.

Candy toss

Relay in which you have to keep a valentine candy on your nose.....

(can you tell I have been a room mom....not just my ideas). Also try familyfun.com!
