Ok, we are going the week of Thanksgiving and will be celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday a little early while we are there. We are staying CL Atrium level at the CR. I'm looking for some resonably priced suggestions to make it special for my daughter. I'm thinking about doing a cake but the $100 price seems wasteful and the $30 single serving cake seems small. Any other suggestions to making it special? Any of you stay CL level on a birthday. Do they do anything special for you? The trip is her sweet 16 party in itself.

Not real sure what you had in mind, but what about a trip to the spa at either GF or SSR? My DD is no where near 16 yrs old, but I do know she LOVES mani's and pedi's :).

For my DDs 10th Bday, we had a limo pick us up at the airport - she LOVED that! She also chose the restaurant to celebrate her day.

We celebrated all week and had a ball!

Have a great time!

We are going the week of Thanksgiving too and elebrating DD's sweet 16 a bit late. We took our first family trip there to celebrate her 3rd birhtday, hard to believe she's going to be 16. We are going to celebrate at Chef Mickey's where we celebrated her 3rd birthday. She wanted to do the Luau but we just couldn't swing the cost. I am curious what people say, if there is something affordable she'd be interested in I may have to steal the idea!

Hope you have a great trip and she has a wonderful birthday celebration!

Now isn't that special?:cheer2: I guess we will be there the same week! When is YOUR daughter's actual birthday? I'm sure we will have a great trip and celebration! After all it is Disney World!!! How many people actually get to celebrate their birthday there? Not me!:cool1:

Wow a Limo ride! How cool! However, we will be driving down from Mississippi. That sounds like fun though. We will be getting reservations at the new Mexican resturant and she's looking forward to that since her favorite food is Mexican and she loves, loves, loves Mexico!:dance3:

The spa sounds cool. I know she does love her manicures! We've had to put alot of those off due to cheerleading.

Any other ideas?

I am subscribing to this thread. It is just what I need. We are going down in May. DS graduates from college on the 21. DS turns 16 on the 20 and I turn the big 50 on the 19 so we will be going down on the 22. So any ideas are very welcome.

There are a few cool things you could do!

1. Order a basket to be sent to your room. A birthday basket. I use www.memoriesbybetsy.com. She does a great job and will get you whatever you want!

2. As you said... you can order a cake. You can get a cheaper cake than $100. You can get a Mickey head cake for $48 which is pretty large and very good. It is either chocolate or vanilla.

3. You can order her a Cinderellas Slipper (chocolate) at a GF restaurant or at Cinderella Royal Table (if you are going there) for $12.

4. I don't know if she is a Disney girl, but you could take her to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and have her princessified! I think for just hair and make-up now its $50.

5. Order something from www.disneyflorist.com. I would prefer using Betsy but the Disney Florist is the only one who can include food/snacks with your order. They also do floral arrangements and other such room surprises.

6. Do a wishes cruise!

7. You can have Gifts of a Lifetime do a scavenger hunt in her favorite park! They will do one customized to her or whatever you choose to do! www.giftsofalifetime.com

8. Just create the special day for her. get her a tiara and a birthday pin. Almost every where you guys go Cast Members will tell her happy birthday. Take her to a special restaurant, some places will give her a cupcake with a candle anyway... and you don't have to pay for it. Take some gifts with you and have a small party back in your room.

9. You could do a special tour. Check out: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/tours-and-experiences/ Lots of cool stuff to do!

Just a few thoughts! I am sure it will be special no matter what you do!

We've been in WDW on my DD's 13th, 14th, & 15th, b-days.

Some things we have done:

CRT breakfast & dinner
Norway dinner
manicures at Periwigs salon at our resort (BC)
Illuminations Celebration Cruise
- the boat was decorated with balloons/streamers/banner & I had ordered a cake delivered right to the boat

I also brought my own mylar Disney-themed birthday balloons from home & had them inflated at the front desk on the morning of her birthday. Yes, they have a helium tank on premises....took about 5 minutes.

She spent her 3rd and 4th birthdays there. After that DH's work changed and we had to go when he could too, well, that and school. Her actual b-day is on October 13. We won't be celebrating the whole trip though (it isn't her gift or we might.) We are really just picking one day.

Why not do a tea in Garden View Tea lounge? I took my great niece there last year and wow!!! Did they out do themselves for her birthday:) It was just so perfect, from the welcome with the long stem rose, to the "sprite" tea, sandwiches, dessert, the birthday card signed by all the CM and to top the whole tea off, they placed on her head a darling tiara made with pearls, rose buds and streamers from the tiara in the back...it will be a day she won't forget...neither will I:)

In October, we are going for my DS 16th birthday too! We are going to surprise him with the Segway tour at Epcot and then lunch at the new restaurant in Italy. Everything I've read about the Segway tour says it's a 'must do' and he's always wanted to ride a Segway. Now that he'll be 16, he can. We can hardly wait!

Tell her the luau isn't that good, nor is the food. I did like the idea of tea at GF, the PP that posted that made it sound great too.

That's great to know because I'd love to bring a balloon from home. I also like some of the other ideas people have shared. :goodvibes

We're also celebrating DD's 16th - we're checking into the Poly on the big day, 12/1, after spending the night before at Pop.
