Need help with where to stay

Newbie here..

Planning our first stay in OCT with our two little ones who will both be celebrating birthdays - one will turn 5 one will turn 2.

We plan to stay for a week..we will be renting points from a DVC member in hopes of loving this SO much we buy in ourselves before we leave!

I just don't know where is the "best" place to stay... We thought we had decided on the beach club but then I heard there is no "on site" food there? I was planning on purchasing the meal plan if that changes anything.

One thing that has me concerned about where to stay is that I have recently been diagnosed with MS.. I'm not moving around like I used to.. and while I could get "better" by our trip = I could also get worse...

is there a "best" resort to stay at if you are disabled? are any more kid friendly?

We took DN6 and DN2 to WDW last month. We stayed at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge. I highly recommend it for children this age. The proximity to the Magic Kingdom made it the best DVC resort for us.

OKW has the biggest rooms for the points and we found with our little boy that there was a lot of room to move around. The problem is, that you have to take a bus to everything and with a large stroller it can be a pain.
This last Oct. we stayed at the BCV and there are places to eat onsite, they are just next door at the Beach Club. They are basically the same hotel. The hotel's rooms are much smaller in my opinion, but the location is much better. You can walk to Epcot and take a boat to MGM, which is very helpful with two little ones. Plus, the kids will love the pool, but remember to bring water shoes because the sand hurts your feet after awhile. Hope that was helpful.

I should have added that we are traveling with a "group" of people.. so we will have the option to go out at night alone once or twice and have someone watch the kids.. I had thought about hte BCV because it is so close to epcot and that is probably where DH and I would want to go without the kids, and its close to the beach club.. or from what I have read.

Rooms size is a consideration - but travel is more.. esp if I am not moving well

My brother uses a power chair. He and SIL first bought at OKW, but added on at BWV after staying there with us. He loves the HA rooms at BWV. The HA rooms at OKW are on the first floor (except for the (2?) elevator buildings). He likes that BWV is larger (the resort, not the rooms) and has HA rooms in different locations, so he gets a change of view (being on different levels). They also like that there are a selection of restaurants, not only at BWV but the whole Epcot resorts area - and very easy access to Epcot & MGM dining. OKW has Olivia's.

HA rooms are only preferred view at BWV, no savings with the std. view points, but BCV would cost as meny points anyway. For as long as you are able to use a stall shower and don't require the roll-in, a std. view 1 or 2 br. could work. A std. view studio would have the usual tub-shower.

Even though his power chair is quite large, DB has been happy with the space at BWV even if samller that OKW.

On days that you aren't moving well and use the boat rather than walking, the boat ramp (for Epcot/MGM) at BWV is closer to the rooms than at the BC (BCV is part of the BC).

Since Oct is Food and Wine fest at Epcot, the Epcot resort DVCs are popular then, and may be booked already. You might want to check availability, and then make your decision.
