I have our rooms booked for 12-31 thru 1-7 but I was told that since our stay begins in 2007, we will have to pay Holiday rates every night even though value rates usually begin on 1-1. Also, I was hoping for a code for Jan. but probabally will not be able to use it since our first night is in Dec. Anyone else ever have a similar situation and what did you do? Thanks.

You need to make two seperate reservations. Make a reservation for only New Year's eve. Make your other to be 1-1-08 to 1-7-08. You will then only pay the holiday rate for the first night. Have them note on your reservations that you have a continuing reservation and you may not have to change rooms. You will technically have to check out and recheck in but it beats paying holiday rates for the whole time. As far as a code goes, there won't be one for new year's eve. If there is one for January, you can see if they can apply it to your existing reservation. If the resort you have chosen doesn't have rooms at the lower rate you can cancel and change resorts.

That is the cheesiest, EVER. :rolleyes1 Definitely make 2 different reservations.

I just went thru the same thing and the cast member to told be to book the one night seperate and then she linked our room so we won't hae to switch rooms. She told me tat we will just let them know when we get there and the next morning to just come to the lobby and check in for the rest of our stay. WEe are getting ther Nov 24th the Sat after thanksgiving and if we would have just waited to arrive on the 25th we wouldn't have had to do that.

Good Luck T

Wait a sec - I'm totally confused! I thought with Disney's new pricing system they eliminated this whole thing? For example, if my stay starts in value season but ends in peak season, I will pay value season rates for value season nights and peak season rates for the peak season nights. Are you telling me that when it's the other way around and financially works in their (Disney's) favor that they didn't also change these rules?

Disney does have new pricing for 2008. You are quoted daily rates so they may be higher for certain dates or weekends. Checking in the day before won't work like it has in the past.

I'm pretty sure I understand the new 2008 pricing structure - I currently have two 2008 reservations. But here's where I'm confused: Value season starts January 1. Why would the original poster have to pay Holiday rates during Value season? I thought the new pricing structure was put in place to eliminate this exact problem.

I currently have a reservation that starts in Value Season and ends in Peak Season. You can bet your happy behind that once Peak Season starts I'm paying Peak Season prices - which is almost double at our resort!!!! Why does this not apply when it's the other way around?

See my above post. It depends on if the res was booked under which type of pricing.

The new pricing starts in 2008, but this reservation starts in 2007, so it still goes by the old rule of whatever season your reservations starts in is the one you pay for for your entire stay. Dec 31 2008, this won't be a problem, but this one starts Dec 31 2007, so technically it will still be a 2007 reservation. It's crazy, but what can you do?
