Okay, I bought my stepdaughter her ticket to come out for her summer visit with us for June 16.
I didn't get the return ticket yet (she will go back around Aug.6), buuuttt of course we now changed when we want her to come!
We are now looking at her coming June 14, my question is do I just change it and pay the $75 fee plus any difference in flight price, or should I just buy that June 14 ticket, and maybe Airtran will do their famous time changes and I then could just cancel that ticket fee free.:teacher:
Of course if I but the other ticket and Airtran doesn't change the time, couldn't I just change that ticket for her flight back in August?
Did I make any sense?:flower3:

Getting AirTran to make a two day schedule change based on a few hour change in the original itinerary is not likely. We have been able to change to the day before the original flight, but never attempted to change by two days. You could hope for two itinerary changes, the first one change the flight by one day and then again on the next itinerary change. If the original flight is non stop, changes are less likely than if there is a connection. If it were me, I would just pay the $75 to make sure I am covered.

I don't think the OP is looking to adjust the current ticket by two days if there is a schedule change. AIRTRAN is really good about refunding tickets if there is a schedule change, even if it is minor (whole other issue IMO - but they allow it, so I digress).

To the OP, I guess I'd look at how much that ticket costs, if a one way is close to the change fee they charge, I'd just book a new one way ticket and then hope for a itinerary change. If there is no change, you're out your original ticket, but because it was close to the new ticket cost, the risk is fairly equal to the reward.

That is what I meant! I am going to just buy her ticket to get here, (she will then have 2) and if AT doesn't change that flight time so I could cancel it fee free, then I will just change it to her ticket going back and pay the fee.
Thanks!
