I have a nearly 8 month old daughter and we leave Thursday for 4 days at Disneyland. I have decided (last minute unfortunately) that I don't want to take her big Graco stroller that is part of her travel system. But our umbrella stroller just isn't going to be good enough for her to be in for long periods of time.

So, those of you with experience, what strollers would you suggest? Most of the umbrella strollers I see just don't have enough sun protection. I looked at the Jeep Liberty but it seems just as big as our travel system stroller.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

What's your budget?

I'd track down a Peg Perego Pliko or P3 they are umbrella full recline and have awesome hoods. Otherwise the Inglesina Espresso has a good hood and is right around $100.

I have a maclaren triumph and LOVE it :thumbsup2 I was weary of spending that much $$$ but now Im glad I did :teeth: If you wanted extra sun protection for it I think you can get an extra shade that will extend to the top. onestepahead.com? I think...

No budget - I will get what works. I even looked at the Bugaboo Frog/Chameleon, Lizard, Gecko - or whatever the heck the names are ) and it clocks in at over $800. It seems great for somethings but doesn't seem to sit the baby up straight or provide much in teh way of sun protection.

I was just looking at the Pliko online - and am leaning that way. Thanks.

I'm not a fan of the Bugaboo, I know a lot of people are, but ours tipped over sideways with DD in it and crushed her arm. It went back quickly! We have a Stokke Xplory which is in the same price range but it's been an awesome stroller and held up so well.

The Peg Perego P3 is an excellent stroller, folds well, the hood goes down to the front bar to cover from the sun.

I'd skip the Maclarens personally, they're not that padded and don't provide a lot of support for the smaller little ones. My DDs weren't comfortable in the Maclarens until they were 2+ and with the exception of the new Techno the hoods leave a lot to be desired.

We love our Combi Savvy stroller. Very lightweight, folds up easily and my kids have always seemed comfortable in it. It has a nice canopy and pushes well. It does not have a lot of storage but it forces me to cut back on what I try to bring with me and that is a good thing. :rotfl: It costs us around $120 so it is not nearly as expensive as some of the other strollers.

I hvae had my fair share of strollers. I never did get a Bugaboo--they never did really impress me. I know a lot of people gush over the Mac's. We had one and I thought it was just OK. It was the Twin Traveller and it did not handle much better than the Graco we replaced it for. I just(6 months ago) bought a Pliko. After 15 or more strollers, this one has been my favorite. I love the sunshade, the recline, the foot pegs on the back, weight, the way it folds ( although it does take a bit of practice opening and closing it), and the manuverability of it. I think the basket is OK--works fairly well if you put stuff in from the side (you can actually get quite a bit of stuf in it this way), not the back. I do not like the parent cupholder it comes with. I am in the process of buying an aftermarket one--either a Carry You-Milan or a Jolly Jumper Stroller Caddy.

Good Luck with you decision.

Peg Perego Pliko/P3
Maclaren Quest
Maclaren Techno
Inglesina Zippy
Inglesina Urbe
Inglesina Trip

All have an umbrella fold, recline, and handle well. The P3, Techno, and Zippy are more full-sized, full-featured strollers. Quest, Urbe, and Trip are more spartan, but provide the basic features that you'll need for an 8 mos. old.

Thanks everyone - I went with the Pliko P3 - since it seemed to get the best reviews and had all the features Iw as looking for. DH went to pick it up - he had to get the red/gray one though I really wanted the oragne - but beggers can't be choosers when I need it starting tomorrow. So thanks for all the insight and I will report back on how well it fared when we get back!! Thanks again!!

My youngest is 4 now and it was still great for him--he napped in it several days. It has great sun protection, although DS got a little sweaty when the canopy was opened all the way.

Those of you with the P3 - I cannot seem to get it to full recline - it seems to stop short by 15 degrees or so, any suggestions?
