Calling all HHI fans!!

I'm mulling over a job offer, that's based in Charlotte NC. Since HHI is a reasonably short drive, it might become a major item in my "plus column". HHI never fit our vacation profile before, so I'm not that familiar with the resort... I can read up on the features; my questions concern bookings.

1) Does anyone have any experience booking 3 nights at HHI, for a Labor Day weekend, within a 7-month booking window?

2) What about spring break? How's the weather, and it is busy?

3) I noticed the weekend points are really high. Do locals think of this resort as a weekend getaway spot? I'm starting to.

4) What's the profile of a typical HHI owner? We currently own at BWV and VWL. Do I need to buy some HHI points?

By the way... we're real excited about possibly moving to Charlotte. We hear it's a great city.

Thanks in advance!

I don't have the answers to your questions but just wanted to say good luck with the job offer and I hope it works out for you!!:D

You can go to Tommy's HH web site and get the average temps. (I don't have the link)
I would think that if you lived in Charlotte, since you are fairly close, I would rely on the7 month window for trips to HH rather than buy points there. Except for summer seasons you should not have a problem. WE have booked 2 BR at HH in April with the 7 month window. The weather should be OK. The Atlantic would be chilly.

I see you're also from Texas, so you probably think of "Spring Break" as being the same time as us-the middle of March. That's when we went last year. I guess it was relatively busy, fully booked they said, but still fairly quiet. There was just one room of about 8-10 girls near us, and when they all sat on the porch talking and laughing, it was pretty loud! But that's just normal, they weren't being rowdy. And we live near South Padre Island, one of the wildest Spring Break locales in the U.S., so I was afraid of HHI being like that when we went. Not at all! Yes, there were a few college kids on spring break-getting sun, maybe visiting Mom and Dad. DH likes HHI now better than WDW-it is a beautiful place to go, anyone who hasn't stayed there is really missing something in our opinion. And the weather? We don't swim much, but there were some people swimming there, and the day I went on the beach walk guided tour got pretty warm! It was in the mid to upper 70s.
Any more questions? BTW, next mid-March if you go, you'll see us there!

We have been in April break(from MA) and did at 7 month window. Summer was more difficult..had to get 2bdroom (only wanted 1 bdroom)but got july Sun-Thurs at 7 months. We love this resort so much that we did add-on this fall for 50 points. It will help to have some 11 month points. We have been there for the holidays 4 times and the 50 points go far at that time. In april it was warm enough to go to the beach but we did swim in the heated pools. Can't say enough about this resort!

To answer one of your other questions, the weekend points are so high becaue HH is a VERY popular weekend getaway location. We live in the Atlanta area -- about a 5-hour drive -- and if the points weren't so darned high, we'd go for long weekends OFTEN!!
