Need help with ??s about renting/transfer of points

I am looking at cruising in July of 2004. I would like to pay cash and rent my 2004 and 2005 points to do so.
Question 1) If I do this, when do the "renters' pay me? I would need the $$ by 5/3/04. I don't know if people renting 2005 points would want to pay me that early.
question 2) is transfering points an option to get the $$? I know you aren't supposed to get money for transfers, but don't people do it anyhow?
It's a lot of $$ to come up with and getting the money for renting points a year later won't help me out at all.

Could you not just borrow the 05 points into 04 to rent them out?

I just had a great "rental" experience. I needed extra points for a Thanksgiving trip and a poster here pm'd me about renting some points he had. We discussed back and forth via Email and I wound up renting 75 points from him. Yes, trust is involved so I was glad to be renting from a regular here on the Boards.

We tried to use paypal for payment and after some trouble setting this up, I sent $ to Paul's bank account. Other options are to send a cashier's check from your bank or I discovered most banks will do an electronic transfer from one account to another, for a small fee. Once I sent Paul the money he called member services and they moved the points right into my account. This was extra easy because renter and rentee were both members!
