So I have my room booked at VGF Nov 4-19. IM going to try and change at the 7 month window to BW (1st week) and AK (second week). Can anyone give me info for these resorts on good room views...AK I want a room (studio) that overlooks the giraffes and such. Boardwalk view for BW THATS IF I CAN GET IN lol

It sounds like AK has two different sections.....Whats the difference? Any pics of views would be great

You are going to want Savannah view. I'm not sure what other information you want.

Kidani and Jambo house are different buildings. We've stayed at both and find them equally enjoyable. So it's a toss up on which one you want.

Jambo House is the original building with both DVC and regular hotel rooms. It houses a nice lobby, Jiko, Boma, and The Mara restaurants. Kidani was added later, is entirely DVC units and houses Sanaa.

BW: there is a booking class called Boardwalk View. You can be anywhere from over the general store to over JellyRolls and over JelyRolls is a walk. Either way it's a beautiful view and a great resort.

AK: who is traveling. If you don't have kids and have a Studio id say book a Savannah studio at Jambo. Difference. Kids is pool is more kiddi than Jambo. Jambo has the quick service dining and the buffet dining. Unless you are going up to a 1 Bdrm there isn't a huge PRO to Kidani over Jambo.

Remember Savannah and Boardwalk views use more points. I have staed at BWV with a "Garden view" that overlooked Community Hall the quiet pool and the canal to the Studios. I was lovely and not noisy. And used fewer points!;)

It is difficult to get BW view at seven months out. It goes pretty quickly at 11 months out. If you are in a studio, you could go for preferred/garden-pool view and request Village Green. That would be overlooking the grassy area between the villas and the inn towards the boardwalk.

Pool/Garden and Boardwalk views are the same number of points. Standard view is less.

I would never pass up a boardwalk view if I could get it:

Not all of the savannahs have Giraffes. Sunset and Arusha do. I am not sure about Uzima, and Pembe definitely does not.

We were just there and Uzima does have giraffe. CM said this is new.

Can anyone tell me if theres a thread that has pics of views and rooms for AKV and BWV I know the VGF thread has a very nice breakdown

I believe Garden/pool views are the same points as boardwalk view

You'll be making someone very happy giving up VGF rooms.

Are you booking studio or 1bd?

It might be worth trying to find someone to trade points. That way you might be able to snag what you want at the 11mo mark, particularly the BWV std or bw view. However, you can only transfer once a use year.

I prefer the bw std rooms bc of the low points. I'm not into views :). AKL has some huge 1bds with 2 baths, which is nice. I'm personally not an akv fan, so can't help there.

Good luck!

Does anyone have any other thoughts on what section to stay at in DVC AK......

DVCnews has a resort room database that has some rooms in it - not all. You can search for the savannah views at each of the AKV buildings and get an idea of some views.

The studios are fairly similar between the two although Jambo has 2 sinks and they are in the standard set up with the sinks outside of the shower/toilet room. Kidani has a large bath room with the sink and tub/shower in the main part and the toilet is in it's own enclosed area. If you book a savannah view at Kidani you have the possibility of being on the Pembe savanna which does not have giraffee if that's important. Otherwise it sounds like all the other savannas have them now. Kidani probably has slightly better savanna views because it's all floors so you can get a lower, close to the animals room. At Jambo the DVC rooms are all on the 5th floor. Kidani has a sit down restaurant (Sanaa) and the community hall as well as a nice pool area with a slide and a splash/play area and a workout area. Jambo has a nice pool with small slide. There is an arcade there and workout room and 2 sit down restaurants as well as a quick service restaurant. The offerings at Jambo suit us a bit more but that of course varies for each family. However guests at either location can use the facilities at both buildings. We love AKV and have enjoyed many stays there.

thanks everyone we booked at the kidani savanna view...I just hope we get great view of the giraffes
