Hi there I am new to this site but not new to Disney. I have gone several times in the past and stayed in various resorts on and off of Disney. This trip however will be the first trip for my 2yr old son. My 6yr old has been 5 times and we stayed in various Value resorts and once in Port Orleans French Qtrs. This time we want to stay in a moderate resort but I can't decide. We are going 9/18/14-9/26/14. We want to stay somewhere new to us but want it to be fun for the boys too. I am looking at Coronado Springs or Caribbean Beach. We like the Queen beds at CS but are concerned about the resort being so big and not so kid friendly. My husband loved the looks of CB grounds but not the rooms. HELP US DECIDE!

From what I've been told by someone at the Caribbean Beach (not just a castmember at the central call center), the resort rooms are going to be refurbed in 2014. Surely, they will be getting queen beds since they are the only moderate who still has full size beds. Someone on another forum posted pictures of what is believed to be a mock-up of the new rooms and they have a very tropical look to them using tans, brown, rattan, etc.

We have stayed at the CBR many many times and it's quite family friendly. The resort is centrally located so it doesn't take long to get to any Disney destination via the bus. The resort is large but it's not so large that you can't walk from any building to Old Port Royale which is where the food court, store, arcade, concierge desk, main pool and marina are located.

Each resort village has it's own white sand beach complete with hammocks and beach chairs. There are also laundry facilities and quiet pools in each village. Oh and a bus stop in each.

The main pool is zero entry and has two slides. Two hot tubs are near the main pool as is a kids' water play area. The pool bar is located near the main pool. This is also the area where they show nightly movies in the courtyard (weather permitting).

At night, you can see some of the higher Epcot fireworks, Illuminations, from several locations in the resort.

If you have any specific CBR questions, feel free to ask and I'll try and answer them as best I can. I have pictures of the resort in my trip report if you want to have a look around. The link is in my signature.

We stayed at CSR 4 years ago they were in the process of refurbishing the rooms from full size to queen size beds. We all got newly refurbished rooms and they were great. our son was 4 years old, and his cousin was 6. It is a great Resort IMO for families. Any monorail resort, or course, would be the best with young children that Magic Kingdom is most appealing, but CSR does the trick.

Anyway, I think if you are going to CBR after the room refurbishment, I think I would go that route, but I've never stayed there before.

We stayed at CSR a couple of years ago and we enjoyed it. We picked it because at the time, CSR and POFQ were the only mods with Queen size beds (now POR has them also).

The concerns I had after reading about CSR here on the DIS didn't end up being issues for us.

One concern was how large the resort is; it is big (and we were in the Ranchos section) but that didn't bother us. We were at least closed to the pool. Also, after walking the parks all day, "large" is relative.

Secondly, it is a convention resort and that might turn some folks off. There was a convention going on when we were there but we didn't really notice except for when we were eating.

Lastly, some folks don't like how the Pepper Market works; that ended up being one of our favorite QS locations though (if you do go there, know that they expect tips).

Another resort you may want to consider is the Swan/Dolphin. I stayed there for a business convention once and found it to be very comparable in price to many mods when you get it discounted. Being able to walk to Epcot, the Boardwalk, and HS if that matters.
