I know that you can rent points for vacation club resorts like SS and OKW,WLV and BW,but what about other Disney resorts? We always stay on the monorail because of my husbands health (he can use monorail to get to room faster if he needs to,he usually spends most time in resort or MK).This year we want to go sometime between Nov.26th-Dec.4th,staying 5-7 days (most likely 6 or 7) and we are traveling with our grown children and 1 child,so we always require 2 rooms. We have AAA and have rooms on hold at their room only rate, but,I'd like to know if the Contemporary can be used with renting points? If so,how do I figure out how many we'd need and the price? We always stay in the tower because of the bal. he perfers to sit there and enjoy the view of MK and not have to leave the resort. If you can not rent points for monorail resorts, could someone let me know about Wilderness Lodge Villas or Boardwalk? We are 6 adults and 1 child,so most likely 2 rooms.Since he is a disabled coal miner at the age of 50 we need to get the best deal we can but have enough room for all of us and his physical problems.Feel free to PM me,sorry so long and I'am sure alot of these questions seem stupid, but I've never rented points and money is a factor now.Thanks. :) :)

You can use points to book regular hotel rooms at the WDW resorts EXCEPT the value resorts, or any resort associated with a DVC resort. This includes Beach Club (because there's BCV), Wilderness Lodge (because there's VWL) and the Boardwalk Inn (because of BWV).

Yes, you can book the Contemporary on points.

The down side is that it is really not cost effective. Using points at regular WDW hotels costs quite a bit. For the timeframe you mentioned a tower room with MK view at the contemporary is 43 points/night weeknights, and 77 points/night weekends. Compare that to a Studio at OKW which runs 8 points/night weeknights and about 20 points/night weekends. In fact, a 2-story, 3-B/R, 2000 square foot Grand Villa at OKW is fewer points than getting a single tower, MK view room at the Contemporary.

You can figure it would be around $10-$11/point to rent from someone, so that would mean about $450 per night per room weeknights, and about $800 per night per room weekends for your Contemporary rooms.

Also keep in mind that if someone uses points for a non-DVC resort and later cancels, they are stuck with points classified as 'reservation' points which cannot be used for a DVC-reservation. Because of this, any renter will probably have a no-refund policy should you need to cancel.

Finally, keep in mind that should you want to stay in a DVC resort, the timeframe you mentioned is very popular so things like standard view rooms at the BWV are probably already all gone.
