This will be the first time I have used National. We are using the Emerald Aisle. I have heard you just walk down that aisle and take a car. I am guessing you have to check in somewhere, where would that be at MCO in Orlando?

Thanks!

There is a booth on the way out of the garage, just follow the exit signs. You hand the attendent your Emerald Club card, driver's license, credit card, any coupons plus the hangtag that they put on the mirror with the vehicle information. I always give them a copy of my reservation confirmation too.

There are counters in the terminal, but you don't need them. If you are an Emerald club member, and you reserve a car on the Emerald Aisle, you simply walk to the aisle and pick your car. As you drive away, you will check out with an attendant, but the process is very quick. You really just give them your credit card and sign the paper work. It's great! I will never wait in a rental car line again!

Thanks for the replies! I couldn't imagine that I could just walk in and drive off with a car! It sounds really easy. Now I will feel more confident about what to do when we arrive.

Thanks again!

We are also using National for our trip in 18 days! My question is, I am not a member of Emerald Aisle, but when a previous poster mentioned an Emerald Aisle card is needed for checkout is that something I would get in time for my trip (Jan 28) or do they have a "card" that you can print up when you sign up on the computer? And does this work with the car attendants? I do know that I can sign up for Emerald Aisle through the information found at MouseSavers.com.
Thanks!

You can print out the "card" when you sign up for EC.

If you already have a reservation with National, you would have to call them to have it transferred to EA. OR make a new ressie in the EC web page.

Someone correct me on this if I am wrong, but in the past I did not need the Emerald Club card to checkout. I simply needed to have the same credit card I used when making the reservation.

I concur... all I've ever needed to show is my CC and drivers license. Its been a while since I've joined, and I seem to recall that I had to show my Emerald Card the very first time I used it, but haven't had to since... but as I said... that was many moons ago.

I always give them my card whether or not they ask for it. I don't take the risk of not having it in case they do ask.

That being said, from what I have been told, as long as the driver's license and credit card match the reservation (and the reservation says you are an Emerald Club member), you are fine.

I automatically give it to them, it might not be necessary. I keep all the cards and the coupon in an envelope with the confirmation printout and just hand it all to them.

I just reserved with National and did the "quick rent" online.. not being a member of the Emerald club the reservation says just bypass the rental line, goto the car and present your CC and Reservation at the checkout.. this sound correct? Just a little nervous since I don't belong to the Emerald club! :)

Yes, that's right...it works similar to Emerald Club in that you can bypass the counter and pick a car from the aisle of the size you booked. Only difference is you cannot go to the Emearld Aisle and you cannot use coupons with Quick Rent.

It is correct. It is a very nice feature offered by National. The only problem with it is that you cannot use a coupon with that feature. A better deal can always be found using a coupon, so I have never even considered it.

Remember, you can sign up for EC free via a link at http://www.mousesavers.com/national.html#emeraldclub. You can then call and add EC to your ressie so you can use Emerald Aisle or Emerald Reserve. With both of those, you can use a coupon to save you even more money. You simply hand it to the exit booth attendant when you leave. I won't use anything else.

It is worth signing up for Emerald (free!) thru links on mousesavers. Why? Well, for one thing, SPOUSES DRIVE FREE. That can save you a ton, if you both share the driving.
