UGGH.

I need to contribute something worth $15 to $25 (at a minimum) that fits the following category:

Theme: Spring Break Fun

Wii or Nintendo DS Games ( or Gift Card to buy/rent)
Gift Cards/Certificates for Activities like: Zoo, Dells, Mini Golf, Roller Skating
New or Unique Games
Art Kits/“Make Your Own” Kits
G/PG DVDs (Newer Releases please) like:
Megamind, Tangled, Toy Story 3, Karate Kid, Yogi Bear, How to Train Your Dragon

I hate this particular theme. We are supposed to donate something that we would "want" to pay $20 for 6 tickets. Sorry - unless there was a spa package - I'm not buying raffle tickets. (The other themes are of no real interest to me either.)

No - I would obviously prefer to donate something closer to $15 than $25. I can opt to just contribute $20 - and not donate an item. Yes - this is a required donation.

So - any ideas of what I can donate, that fits a 'Spring Break' theme?
thanks!!!

Come on...I really need help with this...

What about a GC for a gas card? I'm struggling with this - but I would definitely buy raffle tickets if it included a gas card. Heck...even DD would buy a raffle ticket if it contained a gas card.

I'm confused, is the stuff you listed things people already donated towards the theme?

We do these gift baskets for co-workers that are sick. Usually 1-2 people go in on a basket and from a "unit" (in a hospital) about 10 baskets are created. The most popular seem to be ones related to babies or the lottery trees- but I guess that's not what you asked. So your theme is "Spring Break Fun"... are you the only one on this, or are there others donating toward that theme? If there are others, any idea what they are getting?

I should have given a little more background. DD is in a club sport. There is a big show week, and they have raffle drawings. The items listed were "suggestions" of what you can donate. While you can stay within the theme - the donation is "mandatory". The goal is to help the club make some money, to help keep the expenses down.

DD's team was assigned the "spring break" theme. The other team's themes were "Packers/Brewers", "Teen Girls", and "Hawiian Holiday".

A lot of people travel over spring break to warm, beach locations-how about something to do with that-beach towels, sand toys, flip flops, a couple magazines, etc.

I think the gas card is a great idea-especially after driving past $3.59 on the way home today.

I'm guessing 2 six packs of an expensive beer wouldn't fit the bill? ;)

I think a gas card is a great idea...Spring Break, driving to a vacation spot....

All of your great ideas were covered in the "Hawiian Holiday" theme. So - no can do on those items.

I think I'll go with the gas card...at least it is something that is useful!

Does it have to be co-ed? If not why not do a little basket with pedicure stuff? You can get quite a bit of stuff that would work at the Dollar Store, at Target or Michael's dollar spots.....

Mani/pedi stuff was included in the "hawiian holiday" theme. I LOVE this idea, though. The problem is - if you contribute something for a different team's them - you will still get charged $20 for your DD's team's theme. I'm not wanting to contribute 2-times.

I get the pont. I just think that we got stuck with a sucky theme. DD's team got stuck with a sucky theme last year too. I just think there should be a "thank you mom" theme - all spa stuff:rotfl: Cuz - we are the ones that pay for this sport/travel etc all darn year. (Oops - that almost sounds like a vent...)

How about some of the Think Fun games? Chocolate Fix, Gordian's Knot, Rush Hour, etc. These are cheaper games and can be played by one person. They are great for the car/travel because they are small and usually come with a carrying bag once you open them. Check amazon, these puzzle games are our go to birthday presents because it seems that many kids don't already have them and they are reasonable.

I-tunes gift card for the Ipod users. New music makes Spring Break road trips fun!!! You can not have too many gas cards these days.

I keep Itunes giftcards around the house - cuz they always make a perfect gift. One of the other teams has the "teen girl" basket - and Itunes were one of the recommended donations for that basket. (Again - if I donate something for another basket - they will gladly take the donation, however, they will then bill me for $20 for something for my DD's team basket.)

I think I am still leaning towards a gas card. It wasn't, however, on the suggested donation list, but I can make a great argument that it is 'spring break-related"

I'm not sure what all the other baskets are but.....

How about gardening stuff? Gloves, seeds, gardening tools, etc?

I do not think it's a bad theme, I just think the problem is all of the good things for it are covered by another theme!

The gardening stuff sounds good because spring is when you get out to do all that stuff. I think a "different" board game would be cool too. I have imagine if and it is a lot of fun.

I think the gas card sounds great though and whoever wins the basket will be VERY happy with it:thumbsup2

I think you're stressing too much. Lots of the movies you've listed are selling for between $15 and $20 on Amazon. Choose one, hand it in, and voila, you're done. ;)

So, if something fits more than one theme, you can't bring it in for yours?:confused3 That's pretty stupid if you ask me. I would bring in a $20 DVD and be done with it in that case.

Our class always picks chocolate as our theme:) We don't make it mandatory for parents to bring things in though. Our tickets are $1 each, so I always buy $20, not necessarily for our basket. I have seen plenty of chocolate in the movie basket, and movies in the summer fun basket.

Michael's always has inexpensive craft kits. You might be able to do for under $15 bucks. That or a bunch of junk food snacks.

And WTH on items only in one specific theme basket? Really I totally think I-tunes cards can fit a multitude of themes!

...how about movie theatre passes or gift cards for a movie theatre? Lots of families go to the movies on their Spring Break...I still like my Tequila idea better, though....;) :teeth:
