Need help with MDE and DVC Rental

So I just "signed" the contract for a DVC rental from a known DVC rental company. I was able to confirm the reservation on the DVC website and my information and location is correct, however when I log into MDX to try and add the reservation number to my account, I get this error.

This reservation was made by Mr. (My name here) and is already linked to a Disney account. Please contact (my name here) regarding this reservation.

Anybody have any idea what that means? Even on the app it tells me that his reservation is already linked to my account, but its NOT! I don't see it anywhere under my plans or itinerary.

I have a split stay for October. Both stays were booked from different DVC members using the same DVC rental site and were completed within a week of each other. My first stay is showing up on MDX and the website without issue. It's the second stay, that begins on the checkout day of my first stay, that will not show and is giving me this error.

I've reached out to the DVC site, but not heard back yet....

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I would definitely check back with your rental company about this. If you were able to log in (not sure it was to the DVC website..that is for owners only) and it showed your reservation and your name then then perhaps there is some glitch with MDE. Is your sign in and password for Disney the same as for MDE? I spoke with Disney tech once and they helped me with this. Here is the number for Disney Tech..I hope this helps pixiedust:1-407-939-7765

Thank you. I just called them and they indicated the reservation is still in their system attached to someone else’s MDX...apparently the previous renter who bailed on the confirmed reservation I bought.

Really hoping the agent is able to correct this. I’m assuming I can’t take advantage of the 60 day window for FP+ until this gets straightened out?

MDX ?? I assume you mean MDE or is this something new I haven't heard about yet

They should be able to get the DVC owner of the points to make the correction for you. I'm sure you will be able to get it straightened out by your 60 day window. Let us know how it turns out and if you have any other questions.

MDX sounds like MDE Extreme! Someone please make this a reality.

LOL, yes, I meant My Disney Experience. I haven't been to WDW in about 10 years so I need to learn the acronyms. Spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why everyone wants to eat at a restaurant called BOG...

I'm hoping the DVC owner can fix this. Disney Tech folks told me the names of the people currently associated with that reservation and it ain't me. They could not explain why MDE kept saying the reservation was already linked to my account and that it wasn't showing up. She told me the reservation is not showing in my name. So I'm not sure who to believe. Disney Tech lady told me to try again after 24 hours and see if anything changes.

Thats definitely something to get the IT department to look into

Perhaps when you call the broker you rented from you could give him the Disney Tech # for the DVC owner just in case he needs it. The owner should have called and changed the name on the reservation when the other renters backed out. Best of Luck!

So you get a message regarding the reservation that has your name on it, but IT says the reservation is associated with someone else? Sounds weird. Please let us know how this gets resolved. Thanks.

Exactly. I called Disney Tech again today and the guy I spoke with sounded just as confused. He finally reached out to someone else and said that DVC and the member have to request that the reservation be unlinked from the MDE of the renter who previously held the reservation. They could not do it since they have a policy that prevents them from going into other peoples MDE without permission, which I understand.

It's just frustrating. I know have to wait and hope things get taken care of in a timely manner.

Would you list the rental brokers name? I would like to know which one I should never use as this is their problem, not yours. Don't know why they aren't stepping up. Is this a fly by night company?

It sounds very much like this is rental of a confirmed reservation, and this kind of thing is not uncommon.

Any idea if it can be fixed Auroraborealis? It was a confirmed reservation.
What is your broker saying. When one of my renters backed out, my broker asked me to contact member services and change all the information to the new renters. They even gave me a little $ for my extra time, which wasn't expected but was appreciated. The broker should contact the member (owner of the DVC points) and explain what you have shared with us and ask them to call either Member Services or IT and get it fixed. Hope they fix it soon.

Thank you all for the help. I have reached out to the broker this morning and I'm waiting to hear back. They told me they had reached out to the member yesterday and are awaiting an update themselves. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks again.

It may very well be the broker gave the member the correct information to start with, and the member... well. Most members don't do this a lot and said member may have totally ignored the instruction, KWIM?

That's strange. When ever I cancel or change a reservation it just disappears from my MDE. There's no unlinking to be done.

And I have offered confirmed reservations a couple of times and once I changed the names it was gone from mine and the renter was able to link to MDE. Personally I'd think it's an IT issue with MDE - something hanging on that shouldn't be. But maybe if the owner calls MS and they re-enter the info it will correct. If they could ask for it to be done I'd see if MS could set it up with a new confirmation number but I'm not certain that's even possible without a complete cancel and rebook which likely couldn't be possible.
