Hello All !! We just booked a 2 bedroom at Kidani Village in October:banana:. Can anyone help with a general room request ? It seems that there can be a looong distance from one end of the resort to the lobby area. Is there a section(s) that are near the lobby/pool/bus area ? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as we've never been there . Thanks to all who respond !!!

Not to jump on the band wagon but I was also wondering this as well. We have a dedicated 2-bedroom standard view for our May trip and was trying to determine the best place for our two families. We will have 4 children between 3-7 years of age so I'm sure being close to the pool will be a plus.

There isn't particularly a section you can request to be closest to the lobby. I would just put "close to the lobby" in your room request and they will usually do the best they can for you. We went this past summer when Kidani wasn't quite fully open. We requested a room close to the lobby (and towards the pool) and we were at the start of the second "bead" away from the lobby. The good news is, the parking underneath has four elevators distributed throughout and you can park fairly close to an elevator and the walk from the elevator to your room isn't very far.

I guess you could ask to be close to Community Hall, or something else like that, but just remember that "requests" are just that, and they can't be guaranteed. The CMs will certainly do the best they can to accomodate. The only "guarantee" falls in the area of booking category (Savanna view, standard view, two bedroom, etc.).

One final tip. I've heard somewhere that multiple requests make it harder to get exactly what you want (near lobby, upper floor, near pool) so if you limit your special request, there is a better chance of getting it. If "near the lobby" is the most important to you, then I would recommend you only request "near the lobby." When you get there, the CM at the front desk may (if multiple rooms are available) show you two or three potential rooms that fit your request, and you can choose which one you want that might meet your other desires for location at that time.

The good news is, Kidani is a beautiful resort and we really enjoyed our stay. You should have a great stay, and I hope a great trip!

I would definately request close to the lobby. That resort is HUGE and has very, very long hallways.

You can request close the lobby and low floor. Those were our requests from our stay in November. We ended up on the 2nd floor, which is actually the same level as the lobby.

That was a great level for animal viewing. We were also fairly close to the lobby.

We requested close to the lobby, lower floor for our 2 bed ded. sav. view for this April.

Hope you get a good room! :thumbsup2

We have stayed their twice in ded 2br's. First request "close to lobby"; we were the first room off the lobby, sav view, great room! Second trip, no requests; 6th of 9 beads out away from the lobby... the up side was that our room was ready before noon! I swear it seemed like two miles..... but we passed a gentleman who was in the 9th bead and he said that it was 1/2 mile from lobby to his room. If you have a car, that's fine, but without, it is wayyyyyyyy too long to walk when everyone is tired from that 15-20 min bus ride at the end of the night. Moral of the story, request close to lobby!

You booked Savannah view correct?

Yes, both times were sav view. The first time we were on the Sunset Savanna, and the second in the 6th bead we were on the Pembe Savanna. The Pembe Savanna did not have the giraffes and zebras. Instead, it was the okapi, red river hogs and various other unknown (to us) animals. I have to tell you that we had room 7753, and I called to verify that it really was a sav view. Very disappointed after having the great sav view in room 7604 or what ever it was the first room off the lobby. There was an access road behind our appx 20-30 feet wide of savanna.

I just returned returned from Kidani today and requested a room near the lobby based on the advice I found here. Needless to say, the advice was spot on:thumbsup2 and I got a room on the 4th floor (7408) which is two floors above the lobby and in the first bead to the right. The room was great and every afternoon all four giraffe would snack on willow leaves set high on the tree outside my balcony. The ankole cattle and zebras all seemed to wander over several times during the day as well and I did get to see the zebras behaving badly:sad2:. We loved it and would return to Kidani again.
