Hi there, I am going to Disney in November with my gf. This is a special trip since I will be proposing. The problem though, is she is usually my go to Disney expert when I need advice. We are both DVC members and go every year but i need some others opinions and advice. I have the portrait sessions booked in Epcot but that is it. I looked into a private photopass session to take pics during the engagement. We are staying at WL and AK both locations have that. However I feel like she needs some magic kingdom experience during this whole process. Ak would be so nice and easy because it would be a great surprise however i think Grand Floridian is more Magical. Also deep down i think she wants a MK, proposal which is fine but i would love pictures of it all. So i guess my questions are... 1 do the photopass operators take pics during wishes. 2. DO you think day time is better than night. 3 Grand floridian, MK, or AK and lastly are their any quite locations in mk with a photopass photographer around. Sorry for the long post.

two thoughts for you:

1) If you want to propose in front of the castle, I would say do it at dusk while the lighting is still good but not dark and potentially dreary in pictures. Don't wait til Wishes--it's a crowded mess at that time and she probably won't get to enjoy the proposal as much.

2) If you need another location idea, on the deck by Narcoosee's at the grand floridian is an excellent place to propose, and you could do it during Wishes because there's not an enormous crowd then. Prepare for applause from guests at the restaurant.

I just got engaged in front of the castle last month. It was probably about 10:30 in the morning on a Friday. Photopass was there and there are no other people in our pictures.

We were engaged during dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table at it was perfect! At the time it wasn't a specific package to order, but now Disney Florist have several packages to choose from which include the glass slipper, etc. Anything you do will no doubt be magical, but there is just something so wonderful about the castle in my opinion. Now whenever we see an image of the castle, or of course see it in person, its an instant reminder of our engagement!! Good luck and congrats!!! :goodvibes

When I was down in Disney over July my fiance proposed to me at Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was very romantic. He ordered a sweetheart dinner to throw me off and then at dessert the waitress brought over a plate that said will you marry me around the edges. So I highly recommend Jiko if you do not have your heart set on an MK proposal (especially since you are staying right there!).

If you really have your heart on proposing during Wishes maybe try and get reservations at California Grill during the fireworks (book quick it's a very popular time!) that way you have the secluded romantic setting overlooking the MK and the Wishes display. You could probably even call the restaurant and work with them to help you make the proposal even more magical. My fiance set the whole thing up at Jiko with the staff at Jiko and they added special little details and the manager even took pictures for us.

Check into a fireworks cruise you could book it just for the two of you. That way you get the fireworks and the privacy. By calling Private Dining might be able to work out how to get some champagne and/or cake, chocolate slipper on board. The boat captain could take your pictures afterwards with your own camera.

my idea came to mind after reading your options. and since you are going to be at WDW, why not like during the fireworks?

My fiance proposed to me on the beach by the grand floridan (right next to the wedding pavilion). we had dinner at narcoosee's and then walked along the beach. we decided earlier on that we were going to watch the fireworks for MK at the beach so we brought a sheet and planted ourselves right there. he proposed right before the fireworks started and it was perfect :) its quiet and romantic. good luck and congratulations in advance!

Well, this probably isnt what you're looking for, but I proposed to my girlfiend (now fiance) on the Tower of Terror (which is our favorite ride).

I fished the ring out of my camera bag just before the big drop. When the doors opened right before the drop, the light poured into the elevator car and I showed her the ring. She had just enough time to see if before we car dropped, then she had to wait the whole ride sequence in shock, before I could slip in on her finger.

It worked our perfectly, because the camera snapped the picture just as she was noticing the ring. You can clearly see me holding it and her looking at it surprised.

It was great, except I was so nervous I nearly dropped it.

But if you want a picture, and a bit of excitment, its the way to go.

OMG thats so creative! I love it!

A lot of great suggestions here!!! Since you know Magic Kingdom is her favorite ... I would opt for doing it there. You could get her one of the mouse ears with the veil on it and tie the ring to it ... present it to her in front of the castle. If she is fun loving ... she will love that! If she is more the romantic type ... give her a crown and put the ring on a velvet pillow. Take her to the Grand Floridian to Victoria and Alberts. Have them present it to her on the pillow during dinner. Have fun!

I saw the end of someone proposing on Saturday on Main Street so if it was you, Congratulations!!

He proposed in the Rose Garden during Wishes. He had a professional photographer and everything there!!! It was about 9:50 we walked over and he stopped for a second and said ohh look there are people taking pics in the rose garden. I hear if you ask while they are ther they will take pictures of you." Mean while i'm thinking i have never heard of such a thing but when i looked again there was another family in there so i thought ok Maybe they do do something like that. So we crossed the railing and went inside. The photographer took a few while the fire works went off then told us that we can watch it. Then as Tinkerbell was flying down i looked up becuase she flew directly over my head. When i looked back towrard the castle he had the box in hand and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes and we finished watching the rest of the fire works. After the fireworks the phtograher took us to a few more spots for more pictures. It was awesome!!
