Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but let's give it a try. We are going in Aug. This is my 1st time booking with Disney and using DME & DDP. We normally stay offsite but we got the 40% discount and could not resist. If we arrive early around 12 can we check in at POP and then go to MK? That way I figure by the time we get back our bags should be in our room (because I've read it takes awhile to get your luggage). 2nd question on the return back to the airport (we are flying SW) is it required that I check the luggage or can we use it as carryon? We never used DME before so I don't know all the rules. THanks

40% off! Good for you!

Yes, you can check in, they will store your carry-on bags, and you can go to parks. If I remember correctly, (my husband takes care of the check-in) they will give you a number to call to see if your room is ready, and after a certain time period, your luggage should be in the room when you return.

Remember to pack anything you will really need/want for your first day, in your carry-on.

I'm not sure I understand your second question. If your luggage meets the height and weight requirements, it can be carried on.

The check-in advice you just got was good advice.

DME luggage should arrive at your resort about 3 hours after you do. So yes, I'd assume your bags will be in your room when you return from MK.

I, too, don't understand your second question. Southwest is NOT a "participating airline" in the Resort Airline Check-in service, so you are not even eligible to use RAC. RAC is exactly like curbside check-in, only it's in the resort lobby and not at the airport -- users check their bags through to their final destination and get their boarding passes.

Since you cannot used RAC ...
If you have any checked bags, you will need to bring them to your DME bus. The driver will load them under the bus. As soon as you arrive at the airport, the driver will unload them for you and you again take possession of them. You then take your bags to your airline's ticket counter and check them. If you have carry-ons, you also take them to the DME bus with you. If they are small enough to fit on the overhead shelf or under your own seat, you can take them on the bus with you. If they are larger, the driver will stow them under the bus and you'll get them back at the airport.

Thanks. Sorry the 2nd question I meant to say is that I didn't want to check my bags on the way to airport because we were going to take them as carryon.
