I'm taking DD 15 and her bestie, along with ds 12 from bwi to mco on June 24. Our check in day is really on the 25th but the flight I want isn't dropping lower than $184 (highest so far $210). We can get a flight the evening before for $132 which is a savings of 70 or 50 (roughly) per person (200-240 total).

I was thinking of staying the night at the Hyatt at the airport but then we'd be stuck in the room (flight would arrive around 6:10pm) with nothing to do/no where to go. I have a car picking us up on the 25th at 10:15am to take us to our resort.

Then I thought, maybe I could forgo the car and grab a value room for the night--take ME over, kids could swim or we could do Disney Springs--we'd have options. But the thought of 2 teens, a tween and me crammed in to a value room w 2 double beds, even for a night, just doesn't thrill me.

Soooooooo, any advice? What would you do? Just pay the extra cost and fly down in the morning of the 25th? Fly the late pm on the 24th (avoiding morning rush hour traffic really is a bonus here)? If so, stay onsite, mco?

Thanks for any and all help!

I would definitely arrive the day before and stay onsite. Value rooms are certainly doable for 4 people and even if it's a little cramped for your taste, it's just for the night. You'll be able to grab something to eat, enjoy the resort pool a little and possibly more if you decide to venture out to Disney Springs. Plus - I'm all for gaining an extra night in the World!

It's not like the MCO Hyatt room is going to be much bigger than a value. Might be smaller!

I just did the whole MCO Hyatt night before thing back in November. We arrived around 6:30PM. Granted we saved a lot of money over adding another night at Disney, but I have to admit, once we landed I just wanted to get to Disney! Being stuck at the Hyatt drove me nuts. I was like "I'm a 30 minute drive away from watching Wishes tonight."

I also didn't really like the hotel itself, room was dated, A/C was weak.

It's certainly a valid option depending on your overall circumstances and wasn't 'that' bad, just wasn't my cup of tea.

Good luck!

How much is the hotel/food going to cost you for the $200-$240 you are saving flying in a day early?

I'd fly in on the 24th, take ME and stay at a value for the night, it will cost you less than the room at the airport. If you stay at the airport, you'll be stuck in a room with three kids with nothing to do. If you are at the value, they'll have the option of leaving the room and swimming or whatever and then they can have more fun. l

It's actually going to end up being pretty even. But I get an extra day! lol

I would ask the kids. I think overall the cost is not saving that much. If you get in at 630 PM by the time you swam and had dinner at the airport then it would be time to get some rest. You could get up super early and take DME. You did mention you had a car coming, are you staying on property? If so you can check in and store your luggage and get your day started. I would leave it up to the kids!

I would arrive a day before and stay at the Doubletree suite hotel (non Disney) in Disney springs. You will save money, get an extra day, have enough room and a fun night at Disney Springs. The next morning you can sleep in, go to the pool or Disney springs again. You can get a good deal and free breakfast on mousesavers

I say go the night before, use ME , stay at a value resort and forgo the car (additional savings?) you get and extra full day and could be well rested for the next day. Especially if you are counting Vacation days taken from work. We always try to leave on an evening or early morning flight to maximize the usage of holiday days (PTO). This year we leave at 4:45pm and I am working the day we leave until noon then doing last minute packing until 2pm when I go get DD7 from school and then my mum comes by at 2:30 to drive us to the airport. Gives DD a few minutes to drop off her school bag and change if she wants/ needs to.

All is changed! Was able to get CSR for less than a value (and CSR is our 'home' so I LOVE that we get a quick visit in)---also, changed to a bit of a earlier flight at no cost since prices were the same. Flying in, will have car meet us for ride to CSR, spend some pool time, eat at Pepper Market since my kids loooove it there lol, some time at panchitos shop, and if time allows maybe some window shopping in the marketplace at disney springs. We can sleep in the next day before heading over to BC for the official start of our vacation. (re work days--I'm a teacher and will be on summer break as will the kids so no worries on days :-) ) I love it when a plan comes together lol

Why aren't you using Magical Express? That'll save you about $60-$70.

We are using it on our departure day but not arrival. It's our little treat to ourselves to start the trip off. It's already paid for.
