Need help with decision - portable dvd player or tablet?

My children are older than the OP is looking to entertain but we have had tremendous luck with the cheapest Kindle Fire (got them for $33.33). They have an expansion port for up to 256Gb. We loaded tons of movies on them. Kids love them for long trips.

I'd go with tablet now that Netflix allows you to download movies for up to a month in order to avoid streaming annoyances that come from buffering.

Movies aren't ok 24/7 but we once got stuck on a trip from Cape Cod that should have been 5 hrs for 13 hours- watching movies that were new we're a lifesaver.

another thing great with tablet is Chad can probably play video games when he or she gets a little bit older

OP - Don't forget that you can check out movies/shows/edu-tainment from your local library! If you are in Gwinnett county, they have a very extensive video library.
