Need help with DD overlap

We will be arriving on Nov 5 and are able to add free dining to our whole trip even though they are not offering it for the next few days after we arrive. I have a friend who will have some free dining dates in her stay the following week, but she says they won't honor the free dining. Can anyone give me some ideas as to why this might be? I am trying to help her figure it out. Thanks in advance for any help.

The free dining promotion is based on your check-in date. As long as you check-in on a covered date you can get free dining for your entire stay up to 14 days. If you check-in on a day that is not eligible then you cannot get the plan.

Yes, ordinarily if they're offering a promotion on your check-in day, you will get it for your full vacation. But if you check in the day before a promo starts, you don't get it, even if your vacation overlaps when it starts up again.

But question...how are you getting Free Dining when you're checking in on Nov. 5? According to Disney's website Special Offers, Free Dining is available through November 4, but blacked out for 11/5-11/12, starting back up for a few days on 11/13.

Your check in date must be a date when the dining promotion is offered.

Domestic Booking Dates: August 3 - October 29, 2011
2011 Domestic and Canadian Travel Dates:
October 2 - 8, 2011
October 23 - November 5, 2011
November 13 - 19, 2011
November 27 - December 3, 2011
December 11 - 17, 2011

2012 Domestic Travel Dates:
January 8 - 14, 2012
January 22 - February 4, 2012
February 12 - 18, 2012
March 4 - 10, 2012

Thank you so much. That answers my question. We check in on the last day and she checks in in the middle of the week of the dates offered. It is not available on her check-in date. Thanks again for such a quick response.

I apologize. I've been scheduling everything from the 5th on for our trip, but we actually arrive on the 4th late at night. Sorry I wasn't thinking.

I'm not sure how many days she would get on the free dining but a few years back we checked in the day before the free dining started so we made two reservations. One reservation for the first day and then the rest of trip on another to include the free dining. We were able to stay in the same room but it wasn't a peak time so we may have just been lucky. This was back in 07 so I'm not sure if they'll still do this and/or if it's worth it for her to do it

Hmmm, that's interesting. The day it released the 5th was an eligible check-in date. I know because I booked it - we have free dining for Nov 5 to 12. I wonder if I should be worried that it was an error?

Disney made an error when they included the 5th, as well as every other Saturday. Since it is such a popular check in date, it really expanded free dining into weeks that were meant to be blocked out.
So they have removed the Saturday dates from the promotional literature on the website. But, they are still honoring it. You can still get free dining with a 5th check in date, they just aren't advertising it anymore.

Sorry to jump in but just to clarify we are staying for 14 nights and have a reservation on the first evening, would we still be able to use our credits on the last day as it would be 15 days in total?

Hi Debs ~ You can use your dining plan from the moment that you check in until midnight on the day that you check out. So yes, you will be able to use it on the last day after you check out.

I'd always wondered why they were including Saturdays. When did they figure out that mistake?

To add to what Tricia said. Since your reservation is for 14 nights you will get 14 TS, 14 CS and 14 snacks per person on the regular plan. They base your credits on nights not days.
