Need help with cash reservation

Hi all,

I have some family members who have suddenly decided to come on our November trip (I told them at 11 months to make up their mind but that would have made things too easy :bitelip: ). They have made a reservation at the BW Inn, but I would really like to get them at least a discount (and maybe I would borrow points to give them a night or 2 on us). So I am staying at BW, am out of points, and want to get them a cash res. MS tells me there is no cash res. available at that time at BW. So, my questions ....

1. Is there any way to be on a waitlist for cash (the CM I spoke to at MS said no, but she was clearly in training and didn't really know answers to a lot of my questions);

2. Assuming the answer is no, is there a better time to keep calling for a cash reservation?

3. I may be able to combine some points for the stay, will that get me a spot on the waitlist?

4. Any other ideas?

November is problematic. If you are going during F&W or Thanksgiving Week I would keep that BWI ressie. I have seen everything in the Epcot area (including Swan/Dolphin) completely sell out during those times. Last year I saw people on the Boards who could not get any rooms - even at rack rate!

Maybe someone else can come up with another option.

Thank you! That's exactly what I told them several months ago. They were fortunate enought to get the AAA discount at the Inn.

I was just wondering if there is any "best way" to try to get into BWV in the event something becomes available.

To get the DVC member cash discount, it has to be the member staying in the room too.

As Diane said, you would have to put your name on the reservation and be staying in the room to get the discount. Obviously they wouldn't force you to actually stay in that room once you got there, but your name would have to be on the reservation. In my experience member cash discounts open up closer to travel dates. I called every day for 2 weeks before getting the nights I wanted at a discount. However, that was for value season and Old Key West, I would think your odds at BWV are slim. And the CM was correct, there is no waitlist for cash reservations. BWI with AAA rate will probably be the best they will do, but keep trying, you never know!

Personally, I would just have them keep the BWI reservation with AAA discount. Since they couldn't decide before, they may again decide not to go between now and November. If you were able to get them a reservation with borrowed points, you would then have the problem of what to do about the points if they cancel.

You are 100% correct and it has crossed my mind.

I agree with lizziepooh - sometimes it's a good thing that family/friends find out (the hard way) that you gave good advice. :)

Don't borrow or rent points trying to help them out. The EPCOT resorts are tough to book during November - they are lucky they were able to get a AAA discount at the BWI. Let them keep it.

Best wishes -

I would just hook them up with a renter and have them work out the details with each other.
