One thing I didn't see mentioned in this thread is how many people are you looking to accommodate? Since you have T&C I am just guessing that there are kids involved. This obviously is also a factor whether a tow-able, drive-able, or tents. When we were young we used to go camping every year. Mom and Dad stayed in a Tent (HEAVY DUTY Canvas that was large enough for them to stand up in. Probably 10x10 by 6' high) and the four of us kids stayed in a Pop-up. It was a very basic one. Canvas sides on the wings and walls. Just beds on the wings and the middle section had a table that would seat (comfortably) 4 and would fold down to a bed that could easily sleep 3-4 kids. Since there were 4 of us, my eldest brother slept on one wing, my Sister (second eldest) slept on the other wing (with a curtain) and me and my other brother slept in the middle section. No Water, No electric, no gas.... (We used sleeping bags and Propane Lanterns as well as flash lights)
Plenty of room and my mom and dad used our Station wagon to pull it no problem. A T&C is comparable to a station wagon and probably could do just as well.
Weight is clearly a factor when towing though. Lots of things to consider, Tongue weight, GCWR, etc... So don't be discouraged about a tow-able, if that's where you want to go. Now if you are looking for more than a basic "Primitive" mode of camping, and you want some "Comforts" you have to be a bit more concerned. Carrying water (about 8# per gallon) and Propane (1 or 2 20# cylinders) as well as additional hardware (fixtures, hard walls, etc) make the weight go up quickly.
At least you are starting at a good place and asking the questions. As others have said, certainly go looking at them at dealers and even the bigger shows such as Hershey. Don't listen to the dealers when they say "Oh it can be towed by....." They have a vested interest in making a sale, so they will "Stretch" to the limits. Keep doing your research and I am sure you will have a blast.
