I am trying to make a decision between 2 itineraries and was wondering if anyone has an opinion as to whether one would be significantly ore preferable than the other. I'm not into scuba diving, but enjoy nature, natural island beauty, and culture of the islands in addition to the downtown areas. Love photography. The reason I'm asking is that the 7 night southern Caribbean cruise is running about $1500 more for me right now than the 6 night cruise. Both are on the Magic.

  • The 7 night Southern Caribbean cruise stops at 4 ports: Barbados, St. Lucia, Martinique, Antigua and St. Kitts (Embarks San Juan; disembarks at Port Canaveral).
  • And, the 6 night eastern Caribbean cruise stops at 3 ports: St. Kitts, Antigua and Tortola (Embarks and disembarks in San Juan)
Trying to choose an itinerary with islands that I have never visited which is why I chose these 2 options. I would actually love to visit all 7 of these islands!

Anyone have an opinion as to these ports and if the 4 ports on the 7 night southern Caribbean itinerary are so much more awesome than the 3 for the 6 night cruise that I should choose the first one?

For me it would only be a matter of price because I also want to go all of those places! I could drive to PC but not SJ obviously so the cruise would have to be cheaper. If you have to fly anyway and can add a couple of days in SJ that would be great too because you'd be getting 4 islands that way too.

Yes, I will have to fly RT. I live in the Chicago area. I would arrive in SJ at least a day or 2 before the cruise.

Is the 6 night in May? If so that one embarks in San Juan and disembarks in Port Canaveral. It has a stop at Castaway and the 7 days do not. We chose it for the Castaway Stop.

For me, I would make the choice based on total costs - airfare, extra hotel nights, ground transfers to and from the port. I'm always a fan of more nights, but $1500 for one extra night is a lot to swallow, unless that cost was made up for in another area of travel. I would add everything up and decide from there.

Oh yes, it does have a stop at CC and the cruise is in May 2017. Forgot to mention that. Though I love CC, it isn't a decision maker for me since I've been there a couple times. I always enjoy it though.

I guess I was just wondering if the ports on the 7 night cruise were significantly better than the ones on the 6 night, otherwise the cost difference doesn't make sense to me either at this point
