Need help with a debt

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Things have gotten worse so I guess $300 is gonna be the least of my worries.

We have our home on the market and since he didn't pay the $88 electric bill, it got shut off and showings were cancelled. Now the mortgage company is also calling me since he didn't pay that either.

It boggles my mind cause after he pays for child support, he has $2600 (not including the cash he gets from other job under the table) left over for the month and can't even make these 2 payments he is responsible for. I've been paying the bills I took on time so it doesn't affect his credit yet he is gonna damage mine to a huge extent. Makes me so sick...he seems so unstoppable and getting away with everything!!!

This kind of crap must make you feel even better kicking his useless butt to the curb. I'd call him a rat or a snake, but that would be insulting to rats and snakes.

Hang in there. I would pay the electric bill so it can be turned back on and the house can continue to be shown. As for the mortgage ... I might just let it be if you think your house might sell soon.

I can't pay the electric. They won't even talk to me about the bill since it's in his name and neither one of us live in house.

As for the mortgage, there is no way I can pay that. Once I pay my bills that I took, I'm left with $550 (not including gas, groceries, school lunches and my $2200 lawyer bill that they want me to pay in full before they file papers).

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I can't wait till it's all done & over with. The stress is unbareable.

You know at this point - keep yourself and the DD housed and fed and just do your best. Once you get through the divorce and everything settled, credit problems can and do improve from disastrous levels. Yours will too.

AMEN to this!! I am surprised at your lawyer tho, mine wanted a small retainer up front and then he made my ex pay him the remaining balance.
