Need help - what to do on birthday?

We (me, DH, and 2 DS's 11&13) will be driving down on Friday from Pennsylvania. It's my birthday the next day and I've been trying to figure out what we should do that day. I know that the MK will be the busiest but, I need my dole whip. I thought that we could watch Wishes and Spectro that night because they are my favorites. I'm just not sure where we should have dinner. Should we go outside the MK and then come back later for Wishes and Spectro? I don't want anything to fancy, but I would like more than just counter service. Thanks for any input on this one.

From your countdown, it looks like you'll be getting to WDW just after us. So, I'm assuming you're talking about going to Spectro and Wishes on that Sat. If it were me (birthday or not), I would rather go to those on a different night and skip the Saturday crowds. If you really want to be there on the Sat, or can't go the next Tues.(??), then I would suggest a nice breakfast or lunch instead of dinner. Here's why...I like to save a spot for the parade and have my counter service supper while we wait. It makes the wait shorter and kills two birds with one stone, so to speak. Also - doing a big lunch will save you some money.

Do they still do breakfast at Tony's? I think for a while they weren't, but it was a really nice breakfast when we went a while back. Or - what about lunch at the Crystal Palace? Or, you could have a nice lunch in Epcot (my favorite is Le Cellier) and then do MK that evening.

Just my thoughts...hope you find a nice way to spend your birthday. I'm pretty sure I won't ever go for mine since it's in June, but we're going in Oct. for our 2nd time during my dd's birthdays. One asked for the Hoop-do-doo and the other asked for Cinderella's breakfast, so that's what we're doing on their birthdays.

How about Dinner with the Mouse himself at Liberty Tree Tavern around 7:15?

For Sat Oct 9th Spectro is at 9, Wishes at 10 so
That gives you enough time to find a good spot for the parade right outside there after you are done. We will be doing that the week before.

or

What about leaving the park around 6, hop the Monorail, have dinner around the loop? Cocktails at the Contemporary, a quick dinner at the Poly's Kona cafe, and ice cream at the Floridian's arcade down by the boat dock which has a great view of the castle!!!!! Next stop Magic Kingdom for Spectro!

I'll be celebrating my birthday in the World come the end of October and here is what my day looks like:

Character Breakfast at 'Ohana at 7:45 am

MK 9-noon-ish. Riding all my favorite rides: Splash, HM, Pirates, Philharmagic, Buzz

noon-2 Swim at resort (SSR)

2-5 nap and freshen up for evening

Epcot 5:30-9

See Three Dog Night at 7 p
Dinner at Le Cellier 7:30 p

Illuminations at 9

Adventurer's Club 10-???

Of course I'm travelling with all adults

I like the idea someone mentioned of having dinner at LTT. That would be nice for your family, although I would do it a little bit earlier as you'll need plenty of time to get the spot for Spectro.

I agree with the posts about Liberty Tree if you want to stay in the park. The monorail loop is a good idea too. I love Kona Cafe (Kilahea Tort!) as well as O'Hana at the Poly. And it's so easy to get back to the MK.

Have you ever done the Family Magic Tour? We did it last Feb. My kids were 12 and 10 at the time and it was fun. It's only two hours, starts around 10am? and a great way to start the trip. That would be something special to treat yourself to on your B Day if you haven't done it before!

I think I heard that City Hall will give you a birthday button or something, so be sure to stop there and let them know it's your birthday.

Thank you for all the great ideas. We made ressies for CRT. I would love to eat in the castle just because it's the castle. We're still pondering. We're considering eating at Narcosses(one of my favs) or California Grill and watching fireworks from there. I know that the crowds on Sat are horrible and I'm afraid that with it being a holiday weekend it'll be worse.

I'm so excited to be there on my birthday!

I see you already made PS for the castle, but I wanted to let you know what we did in July on a Saturday when we celebrated two birthdays (my dh and I share the same birthday).

I was worried about the crowds too, but was pleasantly surprised at how they were quite manageable! We arrived before the official rope drop, finished Fantasyland and rode the Speedway within 45 min!

Also, we did eat at LTT with the characters - we had a PS for 6:15 I believe. The meal was delicious! I highly recommend it for the food. We still had time to do other things before getting a spot on Main Street for the parade. We were on the side of the street with the ice cream shop and had a great view. There were masses exiting after the parade, and we just continued to sit on the curb until almost time for the main event.... WISHES!!

Also, we did get our buttons (picked them up the night before at the guest service window at the gate of MK) and they were a big bonus - we were continually wished Happy Birthday, and we were given "free" FPs at various times throughout the day.
