Need help w/ BWV Preferred View

We have a one br villa booked for our August trip and I do not have any room requests in place. It will be myself, DH & 2 kids, 7 and 4.

We would prefer a quiet room so I was thinking of requesting a room near the quiet pool and community hall. Is this a nice quiet area?

I think we would prefer this to a view of the Luna pool, which I think could get noisy.

Are there any other things I should consider, like a view of the canal?

I was planning on requesting a high floor, unless that makes it a lot less convenient to access the pool areas. Are there many stairwells to get to the outside?

Any help or suggestions would really be appreciated, as we have never stayed here and are thrilled to be taking our first DVC trip.

I woudl agree that a view of the quiet pool is the best choice for a quiet location. Of course, many of these rooms are down those Loooooooooong hallways from the elevator and lobby.

The higher the floor, the more stairs you will need to climb, but there are stairs located at just about every "corner," so they are easy to find.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

I think either the quiet pool or the canal view near the Swan would be very quiet. We had a room overlooking the quiet pool/Community Hall one time and it was very quiet.

As noted, there are a lot of stairwells so access to the pool and outside is not a big issue. If you want access to the pools, the quiet pool view will be much closer than the canal/Swan view.

Here's a link to a map of BWV: BWV Map

If you can get in the blue, yellow or green area at the bottom, you should be in pretty good shape. The beige area at the top will also be quiet, I should think.

Granny,

Could you tell me where the Swan view is on the BWV map?

I assume that the entire preferred side has a canal view, is this correct? Or are the rooms too far back to get an actual view of the canal? If so, what section would the canal views be?

Thanks.

The Swan is across the canal from the yellow bit. The "best" canal views are the orange bit - over the croquet lawn - most of the rooms overlooking the pools are either going to be too far back or have a weird angle for looking at the canal itself. However, that close to Jellyrolls/etc. might be louder. The far end of the resort will be quieter. I'd go for ground floor at the far end of the resort with a four year old. You'll be convienent to exterior doors and won't need to worry about stairs and get the most quiet.

Thank you Crisi. I will definately request the quiet pool area.

How private are the patios for the ground floor rooms? Are there dividers between the rooms for the patios. Both my DH and I like to sit outside in the evening after getting the kids to sleep. That is why we were going to request a higher floor.

Also, my DH is not a fan of ground floor rooms. He has security issues, if you know what I mean. Are the sliding doors to the patios very secure? That would help me reassure him.

I'm sure it would be quite convenient to have the ground floor, but I am not sure of the other concerns. Maybe someone can give me the pros and cons for ground floors vs. higher floors.

Would love to see some pictures of the views from the balconies or patios in this specific area of the BWV if anyone has any.

Thanks for your help.

The pro to the ground floor is that there is only one elevator at BWV - and its at the noisiest point of the building - anything "close" to the elevator is going to be noisier. There are many sets of stairs at BWV, but with a four year old (I'm imagining a stroller as well?) I wouldn't plan on taking the stairs. But if your husband doesn't like the ground floor, you may want to be higher up. We've had ground floor rooms and have been fine with them but we are not you - and as long as the hallways are - they aren't really all that long.

In my experience, its moot anyway. I've ALWAYS requested high floor and ALWAYS had a floor as low as I can go at BW. I've never made a close to the elevator request, but we've always ended up close to the elevator (and that's a common request, so I'm sure we are taking someone else's "close to the elevator" room.") BWV doesn't seem to do a good job with locations requests.

Thanks for telling me about your experiences. I will put in a request and will be happy if we get any of it. If not, we are thrilled with being at the BWV to begin with.
