All aboard next stop VWL!

Looking for guidance on trying to get room requests confirmed and check-in procedures at VWL.

We will be flying into Arrive: MCO 12:47 PM Wed Oct 1st. My question is this I will be at the airport at 7:30am :sad2: and wanted to call the check-in desk to pre check-in for our arrival later that afternoon.

Is this possible or greatly discouraged and asking for trouble from WL CM's :scared: ?

It is our first trip HOME and really first time staying at the WL.

We have been spoiled with Concierge Check-in :wizard: the last two trips to BC and Contemporary. Both times I pre called from airport to verify room request and both times we got what we wanted at final check-in. So that being said will be at the WL check-in desk in October waiting in the line.:headache:

Looking forward to reading responses and thank you in advance! :surfweb:

hoping that again DVC will do this - but right now - no.

you have to go to the front desk and check in.

now at least you don't have to come back if your room is not ready. you get take a card and call them - or leave your cell phone and they will call you.

it was different at DVC - then you checked in over the phone at least 48 hours before your arrival.

I have checked into VWL during Easter and Christmas weeks and I dont think I waited more than 5 minutes to check in(honestly I think it might have been walk up at least once). I have always found the front desk at VWL/WL very helpful. I would think Mid-day in October to be a very good day.

Just sharing our experience ------ VWL is our home resort and we love it (and have also come to love OKW, so spend 1/2 our time there). On 6 trips to VWL, we have made requests for upper floor/water view. I've inquired at check in each time if there were options for choice of locations and have always been told the room is pre-assigned and that it can't be changed. Our last trip was 3 weeks ago, and we were told that when the resort is full, everything is pre-assigned. If the room has been pre-assigned, there may be no point in "confirming" any requests that should already have been made.

That said, we have been assigned great to phenomenal rooms. DH thinks it's because it's our home resort, but I think that some of the time it's because we booked 6-10 months earlier. One time we were assigned a 5th floor room, and I didn't want to be on 5th floor because I find the enclosed balconies to be dark so I seriously (and very politely and sincerely) requested a room change ..... without any luck. Thank goodness the CM stuck with the room assignment ------ we got the 1 BR corner room with 2 balconies and DH thought I was an absolute genius to get this room for his birthday trip.

On the other hand, OKW has always given me an option of the building to stay in, even if the room was pre-assigned. Whatever happens, hope you have a fantastic trip!

I have to agree with kda - I don't think you'll find DVC as flexible as staying conceirge.

We've had very poor luck with BWV in getting room requests met. We've never had a "bad" room - and sometimes we get better rooms than what we've asked for (we asked for high floor, got ground floor, but incredibly close to the pool - wasn't good for watching fireworks - was GREAT for all the pool trips we made with a six and seven year old). Its home, we make our reservations eleven months out, but view request don't seem to be very important to the room assigners at BWV.

The only real request I've ever made (before all no smoking) was non smoking and higher floor. We've always got both......sometimes not the greatest views, but, always an upper floor ..........VWL is our home resort also and while sometimes I don't reserve at the 11 month window it's always before the 7 month window. Our last stay (1/07) we had a 2 bdrm and a studio ..both top floor......but, not as close to each other as I would have liked. The studio had a great view......the 2 bdrm had the infamous dumpster view ....which really isn't as bad as some make it out to be.

Changed my vacation plans from AKV to WVL today. Called at the 6 1/2 month mark and was delighted to find a 2BR available. I was so excited I didn't make any room requests. Any suggestions?

We just got back from VWL earlier this month. The requests I made at booking were: Upper floor and lake view. We received a first floor room on the bus stop side, and when I asked if there was anything else available, I was told no. This was the first time that there was nothing else at all. Twice we were offered the "dumpster view" and miraculously another room was found when I asked for it.:confused3
