Planning a DL trip in September. Wanting to go September 13 - 17th - 4 nights at the GCH. I have looked at the Dapper Days website and it says that Dapper Day is on September 12th; however the Dapper Days hotel pricing is available (best as I can tell) from September 7 - 18th.

Why is the pricing for two weeks - are there events going on this entire time? Will it be crazy crowded? Can anyone take advantage of this pricing?

People have suggested that this might be the time they have their Halloween decorations on display so we were hoping to catch a bit of that too.

I know DL is ALWAYS busy and there is really not much of a low season anymore but I have flexibility to go the following weekend (September 20 - 24th) if Dapper Days are crazy.

Appreciated....as always.

Dapper Day is on the 12th and they allow the rates for those participating to come and stay for days before and/or after DD. I guess anyone can take advantage, but the rates are supposed to be for those that will dress up for DD.

Halloween decorations will be up (likely) by the 12th. I imagine the week after DD (13-18) will be busier due to the onsite hotel rates they offer.

If you aren't doing Dapper day (as in dressing up), I'd avoid it at all costs. The parks will be overflowing with people.

thanks for input.

we did not intend to participate in Dapper Day on September 12 - i just noticed that they coincided with our trip dates so was curious for more info.

i will look at moving our trip to the following weekend; however, i'll be sad to miss out on that great room pricing. I know DL is always crowded these days so thought it might be worth risking 'slighty higher crowds' but not CRAZY crowds.

I think your dates are perfect to enjoy the parks and get in on the great rates. The actual Dapper Day will be super busy. But you're not going in that day. While I'm sure there will be carryover through the weekend and it will be busier, it won't be the same bump as the actual DD.

I say this because we just stayed at the DLH during the Feb. DD weekend. We arrived on Dapper Day (a Sunday) and had a pool day (super great, no crowds at all at the pool - they were all in the park!), then went to the parks the next 2 days. While a Mon/Tues following DD is certainly different than a weekend following the event, I'd still do it. And I see on the DD website, that there will be no weekend DD events like they had in Feb, the Sept. events will be almost all be on Fri. the 12th. At half off rates, yep, I would totally do it.

grnflash...

THANK YOU! that is very encouraging. we haven't booked or decided anything yet but knowing that it might be "ok" makes me just want to do it. we would likely check-in to the hotel on Saturday and go in to the parks Sun, Mon and possibly Tuesday. all up in the air at the moment but really appreciate you sharing your experience.

We did Dapper Days in February and stayed for four nights at the DLH. We were upgraded to a deluxe view. The rate is fantastic for DLH and is only a wee bit more than we'd pay elsewhere. We did dress up for a few hours and walked around DL on the actual Dapper Day. It was SUPER crowded, so mostly we just people-watched and did a couple of shows. My dd really liked the dressing up/people-watching part. Since we have APs, this was ok for us. IDK what the September version is like, but if you are there for only a couple of days on parkhoppers, and dressing up to see and be seen isn't important to you, I'd avoid the actual day. The days before and after will be a bit busier, too, I'd expect.
