Need help trip planning, please :o)

Hey everyone,

I'm starting extemely early but I'm starting to trip plan for my next visit to dlrp in July 2007. The reason I'm starting this early is because the previous two times I have been I have gone on a coach tour so it's just been a case of paying the money and the operator doing everything else for you.

OK... I have a few questions if you good people would not mind helping me to answer...

1. There are six adults going. We MUST stay in a Disney hotel, I was thinking of the Newport Bay Hotel because it has rooms for 6 people but would you recommend any other hotels and getting 2 rooms? I wanted to stay in Disneyland Hotel but it looks a lot more expensive than the Newport.

2. In the Newport Bay Hotel does it cost more to get Breakfast served to your room in the 6 persons room?

3. When should I book? We want to stay for 3 nights, I don't think the "3 for 2" offer runs during the summer season, so would it be cheaper to book really early and get the early booking discount. How far in advance would I need to book to get this?

4. Would you recommend booking on the internet or by telephone?

5. I want to fly instead of going on a coach. Eurostar is not an option because I live in the North East. Should I book a package holiday with Disney or book my flights seperatly with BMI Baby (they are a lot cheaper).

6. One thing I'm not sure about it getting from the hotel to resort. I know there are VEA shuttles but I'm not keen on the 45 minute journey to get there. I'd also heard of the TGV which only takes 15 minutes from CDG, is this an easy option or is it really complicated trying to find the terminals and get the backage onto the trains? If there are 6 of us would it work out cheaper to just get a Taxi?

I looked at the supplements for the regional airports and they look very expensive. I'm flying from Durham Tees Valley in december and it was only £35 return (including all the taxes) so I'd just book the DIY option from disney (which includes the hotel & tickets)

It may be easier to get a taxi depending on when your return flight leaves CDG as I think some taxi companies offer discounts when you book a return trip with them. Alternately, you could catch the TGV from CDG to Disney as that is a 10 minute trip and is only slightly more expensive (a couple of euros) than the VEA (and the site is in english) but you do need to consider when your return flight is with regards to the transport to/from the airport. Though you could always mix and match.

I have not stayed at the Newport Bay however I have stayed at the Hotel New york and Disney land hotel. The hotel New york has similar services as the Disneyland hotel, and it has a much better pool, Though I think you can get the services at Newport Bay if you stay on the admirals floor, such as room services.

You can not book yet for June 2007 however this year there was some free night offers in June so you may be lucky, however the free night offers can not be used on the family room so if you wanted to use it you would have to get two rooms.

At HNY and DLH room service for breakfast was 10euros, I am not sure about the Newport bay though.

If you book on the Internet you have to pay in full when you book however if you book by phone you can pay a deposit , which is 10% and make the final payment 60 days (before travel.

with regards to who to book with, I would book separately if its a lot cheaper. you can book hotel and tickets with Disney Direct than book your own flights.

2) At the Newport Bay it is also a 10 euro delivery charge for room service. I'm not sure if you could order food for six people on one card, I think it only offers quantities for up to four. But if you order everything there should be a fair amount of stuff, though it would be more of a problem with the cups!! Depends how much you eat.

5) If you can fly with someone like bmi baby then book separately Keep an eye on the airline's website for when the new flights are offered (better still, get on their email list) and you will probably snap up a bargain!!

6) The cheapest total TGV price for 6 and the cost of a private taxi would be practically the same - so get the taxi!!! Yes, the train journey itself is quick, but you've still got to get there, and then usually wait a while. Plus getting 6 people and their luggage round the airport would be a hassle. Much better to get a door to door service!! If you would like to pre book there are some taxi companies listed near the bottom of the post here - there have been some good reports about RS Transport

These rooms are very few and very expensive I would reccomend 2 interconnecting rooms.

Are the 6 people rooms a lot more expensive? Would suites be an option? I quite like the look of the VIP fastpass, but I guess a suite would cost a lot more and probably not be big enough for 6 adults anyway. Probably looks like 2 rooms is going to be the best option. Should I go with Newport Bay? Any experiences with this or would you recommend another? Hotel New York looks quite nice too.

Will definitely book the flights seperately, thanks for the advice about getting on the mailing list, never thought about that.

The major factors I was concerned about with the TGV was finding the station, missing the train and trying to get all the backage on the train. I think a taxi may be a better option and if there are six it shouldn't be that expensive.

Should I go with Newport Bay? Any experiences with this or would you recommend another? Hotel New York looks quite nice too.

Both very nice hotels. The rooms at the HNY are bigger than at the NBC, as are the bathrooms. The only difference there, is that at the Newport Bay the wash basin is outside of bathroom - which you might find more convenient.

Check prices between the two carefully, as you might find that the standard HNY price works out slightly cheaper than upgrading to the Admiral's Floor at the NBC.

You can book direct with Disney for hotel & tickets & we have always found their prices ok.

I book by phone as I like to discuss my booking but will happily book flights by internet.

This was the layout in my sister's room at the NPB, our room next door, however, had the washbasin inside the bathroom.

Martin, I absolutely adored the NPB, but would definately recommend paying the extra for the Admiral's Floor.
I'd also go for 2 connecting rooms rather 1 large one - with 6 adults- the extra bathroom and washing facilities will be very useful.
