I am scheduled to leave for Disney in 16 days. but heres the problem work is CRAZY, and I mean CRAAAZY:crazy:
I have been working 10 to 11 hours a day and feel I may need to spend my first two days vacation in bed.
But I only have 6 days... I have not even started to pack and beginning to decide if its worth it...
Whats the best thing about Disney that makes all your trips worth it? I need to keep my spirits up for my DD. its a mother/daughter trip!

I know how you feel. I always end up working until 2 a.m. the night before we leave for Disney and that car ride to the airport at 5:30 a.m. comes mighty quickly! :scared1:

Just remember that Disney trips don't have to be go-go-go. Stop and enjoy the details of the park. The first few days, give yourself mini-breaks in the parks: sit in front of a fountain or people watch along Main Street. Don't beat yourself up if you want to take a midday break back at the resort, enjoy your resort time!

And don't forget to be happy, because after all, you're at Disney!!! :yay:

It is so worth it to go! I am pretty much crazy crazy busy before our trips also. As a single working mom of two young girls (5, 10), it would be overwhelming if I thought too much about it. If I were you I would just set a goal or two about packing. For instance, we drive so I purchase snacks, breakfast bars, water, soda, hi-c or something about a week before and put it in a little bin in the house with plastic utensils and paper bowls and plastic cups. A day or two before I pick up some fresh fruit or veggies for the early part of the trip.

I really try not to think about actually packing the clothing and toiletries until the day before the trip. I just get tired thinking about it. I usually get the girls' suitcases packed the night before and then mine the morning of. I find I'm energized about the trip naturally by the night before so that's the best time to pack for me. I do make a list throughout the week leading up to the trip... you know, phone, charger, credit cards, sunglasses, blah blah blah.

You will have a great time. You really need to get away and spend this special time with your daughter. It will be totally worth it! :thumbsup2

I personally am pack a month out.....no last minute fssing and getting all stressed at the last minute.....I pack according to a list I've prepared years ago and with 45 trips to WDW, got things covered well as to not forget anything or overpack....

We go by train, Amtrak, and no matter how stressed life can be, once they pick us up, we can relax on the trip to WDW.....we stretch out in our seats, got all our goodies packed and play things and watch the world roll by....wouldn't do it any other way...the train trip melts the stress away and beginhs the anticipation of WDW.....

And when we hit WDW, and they say "Welcome back".....whew, we made it again.....no rushing, commando got to do this and that, no ADR's....free as a bird....we get our suits on and head to the pool to unwind, have a few beverages and soak in the sun....we never worry about the days we have....there's plenty and we pop in and out of parks all day long but ending at the resort pool....we'll never have enough time but there's always another trip...been saying that for 40 years and it's true.....relax, let it happen and force the issue...enjoy your time with your daughter and not make a commando raid out of the trip......

Just Breath >>>>>>> Take the 1 st day to enjoy the Resort - sit by pool or a spot in the Lounge at your Resort --- (with a Drinkie ) Go to other Resort's and enjoy the Christmas decorations ...
Have a nice quiet Lunch or Dinner ... Splurge --- Rest ---
You'll wake up rested and then get going to the Park's ...
We always bring our own Breakfast stuff - so we are not rushed in the Morning's ..
Hope this helps ;)

Maybe you need a reality check like I got. "You have cancer and need surgery and chemo so no Disney vacation for you". It took almost two years to get a little bit of stamina and hair to grow on my bold scull. :rotfl:
Believe me you have a luxury problem. :lmao:
O and just so you know I have my own business and worked 16 hours a day almost the year around. :scared1:
Now I've learned the hard way my coffin will not have an extra inch to carry my money or any other crap. :rotfl2:

I agree, relax, enjoy the resort or take a stroll through Downtown Disney, stop and have some ice cream.

The best thing about Disney that keeps me going is...I'm not at work!!!!

Simply remember the feeling you get when you pass under the gates of Disney and your favorite smell and memory. It'll give you the energy to get up and go find another great memory to get you through those crazy days at work.

I'm just over 2 weeks out from our trip and I'm ready to toss it all out the window to get there. DH counts down every morning. I'm ready to go NOW!! Forget the packing. I'll wash and wear!:rotfl:

I go solo for 5 days and do take time to relax and nap in my resort room. So don't overplan your days - leave time for relaxing in your room.

I used to have to work 10-12 hours every day Monday through Friday. It was so stressful but I did get used to it. Then I still had to come home and deal with everything at home, cooking, laundry and cleaning so I know what you are going through.

Take 15 minutes each night for a couple of nights to have a packing list or put together one during your lunch break.
Give up on the having a perfectly clean house before you go (that's always my problem!). Pull out your suitcases once you have your list and each night spend 15 minutes putting stuff in it, crossing out each item on your list as you go.

Before you know it, you'll be packed and ready to go. Hang in there. You'll make it!

Thanks for the positive remarks. I know once I get there I will love it as I always do. I think I just feel really guilty taking time off from work. the end of Oct we started setting up for electronic medical records and on top of that the billing lady quit. So everyone was moved around and its a mad house. We are putting patients information in the system as they sit in the office for the appointment.
I am trying to get the new billing lady ahead a week so it will not be so hectic for her but it just seems the faster I work the farther behind I get:rotfl:
But the good news is I am going to Disney with my lovely daughter, and I am still alive to do so...

The wonderful thing about being at Disney - you are no longer involved with real life. The reason our family *LOVES* our Disney vacations...xxx amount of days filled with fun..together as a family..no interference from pesky real life problems.
Once you step foot on Disney propery, breath in the Disney air...drink a little of the Disney Kool Aid;) - and treasure the Magical time with your daughter.:lovestruc

Both of you need to sit and ENJOY each other, and together you both need to ENJOY Disney. Slow the pace down - relax together and be happy. After all, you're at WDW.

I don't want to preach - but my daughter and I won't be going at Christmas time because I am having surgery for a mass in my throat. ENJOY each other. Have a great time together.

Have a cup of coffee - watch the fireworks - look at the lights - ride HM (our favorite) - look at the smiles all around you.

ENJOY! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I'm just empathizing with you. We leave in 10 days and I said almost the same thing to my brother that you said in your post. I work about 10 hours a day plus another 6-8 on weekends typically---this weekend was report card weekend so I spent 2 days getting report card grades and comments written. My MIL was in the hospital, now she's in assisted living, which has been a big adjustment for her. We've been spending time with her every day almost for the last month. Of course I have the guilt of taking off (I'm a teacher---horrors that I am taking 4 days off!!!) so I will spend hours writing substitute plans so my students are still learning and working when I'm away (I did arrange for the best sub back in July!). I haven't had much time to get excited lately, and I'm exhausted and stressed out! No, I haven't packed a thing yet! But, I know that it will all get done because it always does. And, once we are in Disney, I'll be able to relax and enjoy being in my favorite place. Just keep telling yourself that you will have a much needed break and some quality time with your daughter which will be irreplaceable!! Enjoy it!

I think I just feel really guilty taking time off from work.

I'll be blunt. Screw that attitude. I've been so busy at work BUT I took a full week off just for the Food & Wine Festival and I'm taking another week off in January so I can enjoy Disney World with my entire (yes, ENTIRE) family. And guess what? My job was still there when I got back, I felt so much better, and the world still was spinning.

It's a freaking job. You should work to live, not live to work.

I totally AGREE!!!!! :thumbsup2

A former manager of mine made a very wise comment.

"Your job is what subsidizes the important things in your life. That's all it is."

We all get caught up in that trap of feeling that we shouldn't take time off. And we all miss a lot of the really important things in our lives because of it. Been there, done that.

Take the vacation. The time with your family is important for them and for you, and being away from the office for awhile will refresh and recharge you, and make you a better employee when you return.
