We are taking our boys Spring Break to Disney World. We are checking them out of school on a Thursday afternoon and driving to NAshville where our plane leaves on a Friday morning. The kids think we are not going until this summer. We are trying to come up with some great ideas and need help. They are 4 and 7, this will be their second trip. We went two and a half years ago so the little one does not remember anything. We want to make it special! -Thanks!

we took our kids and another family in Oct
and had talked to the principal before hand
He paged the boys to the office and told them there was a situation and they needed to come down

It was kind of a let down for us moms they were shell shocked and didn't react until we were almost in the air then it sunk in
I wish now we would have found a way a day or 2 before to spring the surprise to let them get excited more
We had them thinking we were going away to Mexico without and my mom was coming to stay
that way it explained the suitcases out

We surprised our kids last time but gave them 10 days notice which I think was good. I wanted help packing! Plus they would be missing a little school and I wanted them to be prepared. The teachers knew about it before the kids though.

At 10 days out, we prepared a treasure hunt. Each hidden envelope contained two slips with math problems, one for each girl. Each answer stood for a letter of the alphabet. When they collected them all, they solved the problems and filled out a code that read "Look at the November calendar". When they lifted the calendar page, they saw "Disney World" in bright colors on our dates. Screaming and falling on the floor ensued! For your younger ones you wouldn't need to incorporate the math, but could have any sort of treasure hunt.

Another idea I considered was mailing them letters in Disney font from their favorite characters.

Personally I would give them a little warning, even if it's just the day before. But you're the one who knows best how they might react!

All I can recommend is do not tell them the night before you leave. We did that once and there was absolutely no sleeping that night. They were too excited. I vote for the day of.

We are doing the same thing!! Picking them up from school like a normal day, but plan to have the van packed and loaded when they get here... and parked down the street! My husband and I have put together a slideshow for the computer that goes thru all these "ideas" we've had for things we can do together during spring break. But, then we have a slide that says we've been invited to a friend's house for the week... Mickey and Minnie's! :goodvibes The next slide tells them we are leaving RIGHT NOW! I plan to have special Disney treats awaiting them in their carseats!

Can't wait!! Hubby and I are about to bust!
