Need help re reserving at the 11-month window...

If I must have exact dates for my stay at BCV March 2005, am I taking a chance if I wait to reserve until 11 months before checkout? Should I call and separately reserve for each day instead?

Hi, ColoradoDisneyFan. Although a couple of people have accused me of 'tying up the phone lines' , I do indeed book day by day when I absolutely, positively must have those exact dates. Even though the chances are extremely good if you wait until the end, the only true way to be certain is to book day by day, first thing in the morning.

Call on the first day of the 7 month window and ask the CM. When we made ressies for next May at the 7 month window, I asked if I should call daily and she checked availability and said "It wouldn't hurt." That told me that availability was probably getting tight, so I made ressies day by day.

I think goofy4dvc makes a great suggestion....call on the 11 month mark for the day after check-in date...and see if MS thinks you need to call day by day.

And I agree with Maistre Gracey...if the dates are important, then the small hassle of calling each day is worth it. And MS themselves continue to suggest the tactic, so I guess it doesn't bother them any.

Is this the part where we get to plug ON LINE RESERVATIONS???

I do the checking with MS the first day I can reserve too. I find they are very good at advising if it should be made day by day or not. When I called for the GV in October, they suggested I needed to do that, but when I called for the 2 bedroom early December, they said there was no need to, so I made the first part of the ressie, and then called again at the check out end date to make the rest of it. They flag it in their computer, so when you call the first day, they plug in the end date too. Then when you call back, they know how much you have left.

The practice of calling day by day really inflames me, so I will not say too much about it. It is a sign of the times and for those that are not old enought to understand the difference between the way people are today and the way they were years ago it is like taking to a brick wall. I will tell you this there are few situations where calling day by day may be necessary- that is going for a GV is one-some special rooms I believe at BWV with certain views and I guess with different point values. If the time of years is very busy and the reservation may have to go through a week-end it may be wise to call twice-make the reservation up to the weekend, the call on Monday to finish the resevation. Everyday I see many things happen in my life that the young people of today just think is normal behavior and I do not. This calling day by day is one of many many situations that happen that confirm to me about the way people have changed over the years. Calling day by day is not necessary 99% of the time.

I always call day-by-day. It is really easy to do. I always book a 2 Bedroom Dedicated with 2 queens at BCV and I know that there are only 25 of these so it I feel better doing it this way. I don't know why it would bother anyone else.

I have been a member since 1994 and have NEVER done a day-by-day reservation for any resort. I have made them for Christmas, Easter Weeks and never had a problem. I also have not had to do it for a 7 month window at BCV in busy summer week. I think that there is an argument to do day-by-day if you are looking for standard view at BWV, but other than that, I am one of those who feel you are "tying up the lines) at MS for no reason. I call 11 or 7 months from my check out dates.

In 2005, Easter is in March. If you are planning to go the week before or after Easter, you might want to book day-by-day. It all depends on when you are going, and what type of reservation you need. Anything real specific (standard view, two double beds) should be done day-by-day.

I would do day-by-day. It is very easy to do and I call right at 9 AM and have never had a problem getting the room or the dates I want.... Good Luck

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the honest comments. This trip will be planned over my daughter's and mom's birthdays and the timing is really important as well as getting a 2 bedroom for all of us.
