Need help - question about check-in

The day before our WDW trip is when free dining ends. I know that if I switch my trip to get there the day before, I get FD for the entire stay. I did call and have this on hold, BUT we cannot get there until the Sunday (free dining ends Saturday). I held Sat-the following Sunday. I asked if we could pay for saturday night but not check-in until Sunday. The cast member said that they start canceling the "no-shows" at 7am the next morning (Sunday), but if you call and say you are coming and will be late, they may hold it.

I'm sure they do this bc what if your flight is delayed/cancelled.

Has anyone ever done this or had this happen by accident due to a flight issue and how did it go? Were there any problems when asking to hold reservation or at check-in?

Hi,
I don't know your family situation but if your children are of an age that they can travel with one parent then one of you could go a day early and get all set up and the rest follow the next day. I think that that is allowed and if you need magical express you can do it twice--i think.

If you need ME, then they will know that you're lying - ME checks the flight schedule. If you use ME, they'll also know that you never intended to check in on Saturday - they'll see you booking transportation for Sunday.

Even if not using ME: When you call to say that you won't be arriving until Sunday because "your flight is delayed," do you really think that they won't ask for your flight, and check it? Disney knows that people try to do this; they're not stupid. I would guess that they are much less forgiving if you're not checking in for the last day of free dining.
