Ok so my wife and I are going to spend our birthdays in WDW. Mine is Oct 20th and Her's is Oct 21st... Here is what I need help with on the 21st we are planning on going to HS during the day time and then go over to MK for MNSSHP that night... I would love to find a character Dinner for that night to take her to for her birthday and not tell her until that day. I need to know what you guys and gals would say is the best place to do this. some where with lots of characters and good food... Thanks for the help everyone!

There are two character dinners inside MK (Crystal Palace and CRT) and two in neighboring resorts (1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's). Which one depends on the type of characters and/or food you're after.

It might be nice to do CRT for her birthday. You can also order her the chocolate slipper dessert and get Happy Birthday written on the plate. (I had my 35th birthday at CRT and it was really nice).

I would suggest you take her to lunch or breakfast that day as the surprise and not 'waste' party time with a meal. As you probably know in past years you could get into the party as early as 4 pm on a party ticket and IMO it's well worth going early.

The first year we did a hard ticket party (Pirate and Princess) we didn't go until close to 7 pm and we really wished we had skipped dinner at CM and gone earlier

Just a suggestion.

another vote for CRT...we had a 4:00 ADR on a Friday party night for the castle last September on a MNSSHP...we were done by 5:15 and in line (a very short line) to get our party wristbands, map & trick-or-treat bag. The party didn't actually start until 7:00, so we didn't miss anything and had a nice "intro" to the party...nothing like dining in a castle to get you into the Disney mood!

If you're never eaten in the castle, it really is awesome in there-as with all things Disney, they did a spectacular job creating a fairy-tale castle...and though it's pricey, the tax, tip and photo with Cinderella is included in the fixed price. The food is good enough (i.e., keep your expectations reasonable on the food & you won't be disappointed...the high price is paying for the castle & princesses, not gourmet 5* food, lol. )

I TIA I asked about MNSSHP dinner times and people suggested 4:30 or earlier to maximize party time!

For a character meal I thought the food at CP was pretty good.
CRT I dont know the food did not wow me at all!

I know this isn't a character meal but if she is into it. Maybe 2 for 2 at the Gardenview Tea room at the GF. You can order the chocolate slipper for her there and enjoy a nice relaxed tea, then hop on the monorail to MK as its 1 stop away.

But back on topic! Id reccommend lunch at Akershaus in Norway or Crystal Palace at MK! But to maximize MNSSHP id do it before 4:30

Just wanted to say hi and welcome to the DISboards, fellow COloradian!! We live in Colorado Springs and will be heading to WDW in October too!!

Me & DH like to eat at CP, and you probably can still get ressies there...it's going to be hard to get ADRs for either CRT or Chef Mickey's at this point.
