Need help planning a surprise trip.

Is this it?

Disney is the place you must go

where smiling faces of all ages seems to glow

with mickey, minnie, goofy, donald, daisy in view

there's is pluto who is so freindly to.

It is a magic park with lots of rides

children and adults of all ages laughing, screaming on waterslides

there's boats, canoes and horses to

lot of treats for me and you.

Lets take a trip on a special train

that will take you to the wonders of world if it dont rain

people are freindly and happy to help you too

it really is a magical dream come true.

I think I've decided to plan a treasure hunt with the helium balloons and note inside the treasure :)

What about something like this for your clues....

A treasure hunt NOW? No way!
We have better things to do with our day!
We had better please Mom & Dad, this we all know
Off to the "coat closet" we must go.

This won't be easy, there's another clue,
You're good at this, you know what to do.
Go to where the laundry gets done
There you will find another one.

Clothes from here get put away
Mom feels like she does this every day
Go to where "Johnny" finds something to wear
Look on the dresser and find a clue there

You guys are good, we can't fool you
You're getting close, you're almost through
Meals are SERVED here, yum, yummy
Go to the kitchen look and see.

What are we looking for? Have we found it yet?
Please go to the car(van), make sure I didn't forget.

Put the poem under the windshield wiper!

This is SO CUTE!!! I love it! We have not told our kids about our October trip. They think we will be going again in 2 years. However, with the deals out there this year we could not pass up the chance to go. Disney is our favorite place :) I know I'm going to have the hardest time keeping it a secret. I'm with the OP...I just don't know when to tell them or how! We were thinking about just driving down there and letting them figure it out...but the scavenger hunt sounds like even more fun!

I am loving all of these ideas! We, too, are taking or DDs age 7 and 5 to Disney this year and it will be there first time. It is a surprise and thankfully my girls are too clueless to understand why mommy is reading about Disney all the time on the disboards! :cool1:

My hubby and I have decided not to tell them at all where they are going until we wake them up that day. I want to see their faces when I say "Wake up. We're going to Disney today!!!" They won't even know we are going on a trip.

I want to hear what you decide on! It will be a great story and memory for your kids.

Me :surfweb: DH :wizard: DD princess: (7) and DD princess: (5)

Love this thread and all the ideas! We are surprising our kids (8 and 5) with a trip mid-August. I am also leaning toward a scavenger hunt but may hold off on revealing the big surprise until we actually see the sign...we are driving this time...so I think I could make them think we are visiting some family we have living in Fl. Not sure what to do yet???

Danielle - welcome and OMG your family is amazing!! I give you the most amazing hugs for planning a surprise trip for your family - we're doing the same for ours in August as well!! I've got a passporter scavenger hunt that has some great clues that I'll send along to you.

Where are you staying? Have you made your ADRS?

What ideas do you have for fun for the kids?

Hi there,

My sister is trying to figure out how to surprise their kids (4 and 6) for our trip Aug.1-6. I am wondering if you would be kind enough to send me the scavenger hunt/clues as well?

How were your trips? How did the surprise go for each family?

Thank so much! :flower3:

:thumbsup2 AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Feel free to post more :rolleyes1

I used the poem posted earlier and changed it into clues for where we are going. I liked the idea of using the balloons in a box at the end and I could do this with that.I am thinking about using each clue with a small gift and using the other scavenger hunt clues to lead the kids around the house from place to place to find these clues with the small gift. Or I may put this whole poem at the end of the scavenger hunt (at our car) with a large box with balloons and attached to a sign...saying we are going to Disney! So when the box is opened the balloon float out with the sign. What do you think? Which way do you think would be better? Here's my tweaked version of the poem that was posted earlier:

There’s a special place we must go,
where smiling faces of all ages seems to glow!
There will be lots of old pals you know so well!
Where are we going? Can you tell?

It is a wonderful place with lots of sun.
Children and adults of all ages having so much fun!
Memories there we will definitely make!
Do you know where we are going for goodness sake?

Let’s take a trip in our little car!
We will have to travel very far!
We’re heading on a wonderful quest
It’s really magic at it’s BEST….

Have you figured it out yet?
If you still don’t know….
Open the box and see where we will go!

Here is the one I think I am going to use- I have modified it already.
Your presents from Mommy, Daddy and Santa this year
Stated quite simply is already here.
Not under the tree, where it’s easy to see.
But hidden somewhere…where could it be?

To find your gift you’ll have to look!!
Maybe you should start…in the place where you cook. (kitchen)

A puzzle piece you say?
Oh, what fun we’re having today!
Collect them all – it won’t take a week!
They’ll help you find the gifts that you seek.

You use this to make your teeth squeaky clean,
It gives you a smile like a king or a queen. (toothbrush)

Your next clue can be found in something to put on your feet
So they won’t get cold out on the concrete. (shoes)

Find something white that comes on a roll.
It’s usually near a toilet bowl. (toilet paper)

Put your clothes in this when they are smelly,
You will have a very clean belly. (washer)

The next clue can be found in something big – it’s quite nice.
It holds lots of things – including the ice. (freezer)

This next thing tells time
And every hour it chimes! (family room clock)

Your last clue is in plain sight

Just look at the tree and the second star to the right.

Your journey is almost at an end, here’s the last piece- please don’t bend!
Put the puzzle together and you will see, where we are going before the day’s end!

My girls would easily put together the clues, so I'm not going to try that one. I might make a puzzle on the back of the clues that they have to put together before reading the final clue, not sure that would work either.

If you don't mind, I would LOVE to use your revised poem for my hunt. I will have 6 balloons in a box (2 for each dd) with something to weigh them down and a note attached for each. I'll hide the box in the van, that's the best place to hide a box that big LOL I'll have dd10 read the poem out loud and I know they'll figure it out immediately.

Edited to add: I just thought of this, on the last clue I think I'll put this:

When you've figure out our surprise to you
Open up Box number 2

Then inside Box #2 I'll have autograph books, Epcot passports, travel journals, lanyards etc.

Here is the one I think I am going to use- I have modified it already.

I love this!!!! I'll have to modify some of the clues a bit, since ours isn't a Christmas surprise.
