This is the first time camping at Fort Wilderness and I could use some help. Not going until Feb 2011 but because of the kids I always plan far in advance.

I have a 37.5' motorhome, kids in wheelchairs and dogs. I need a loop that will give us the most room and yet close enough to get to places without using the bus.

Thanks

Cindy

there are alot of good loops but i just came back from the fort a few weeks ago and the 300 loop is not one of my fav's... had some standing water all over the area and we DID have mosquitos...:confused3

just my opinion...

1700 good
1500 good
even 100 or 200 good

good luck !! :thumbsup2

I would put a vote in for 500. Premium loop with bigger paved pad, so shouldn't be tough to get your rig in, pet loop close to the dog park, and a nice location not too far from the Settlement area or the pool/Meadows.

Hi Michigan,

We also have children in wheelchairs. We currently have three teens. We have not had any problem with the busses, either the internal Fort busses or the park busses. The newer busses can handle three chairs and have modern ramps. Such passengers are loaded first and unloaded last.

We have recently been in the 200, 500, and 1400 loop. The 200 loop has the smallest sites. The 500 is a premium pet loop with various sized sites. We were there for Christmas and had plenty of room for our excessive decorations. I prefer the 1400 outer loop. It is convenient to the Meadows facilities and reasonably convenient to the Settlement, but a longer walk.

Since my wife had back surgery I have walked two wheel chairs to the Settlement while she drove the golf cart with the third chair and child.
