Hey everybody! I need some help here; I'm thinking of possibly moving down to Orlando permanently (I've recieved a job offer there). I'm in my 20's (if that helps..lol) and am used to living in the midwest, so it'd be a little bit of a change.
So basically, I'd like some input from those of you who are currently living in Orlando..the good, the bad, and the ugly. What do you like about it (besides living so close to the theme parks..lol), what don't you like about it, what are good areas to live in..etc. Any thoughts or opinions at all will help out a lot! Thanks! :) (I hope I'm not posting this in the wrong forum..this was the closest forum of relevance i could find for this topic..)

there seems to be quite a few residents of orlando that post over on the Universal Theme Parks forum, maybe try posting there too?

There have also been many threads on the community board about neighborhoods, schools, etc. I would search on there and then ask some more questions in a new thread.

Greetings...I've lived in the Orlando area for about 5 years, and really enjoy it.

Orlando is not a huge city, but thanks to all the tourists, there's always plenty to do.

Where to live? That really depends on where you work. Traffic is a nightmare. I live in the northern suburbs. During rush, it could take up to an hour to get downtown (on what would normally be a 20-25 minute drive).

What to do? Depends on your interests. There's a lot more to the city than theme parks. Not that there's anything wrong with theme parks. It's just that as a local, I don't get down that way very often because there are pleny of other things to do.

Good shopping, good restaurants, a really diverse population. I've never really worried about crime. Don't know much about schools as I don't have kids.

Not sure if this helps...let me know if I can answer any questions.
