Hi all ... I wanted to turn to my cruise family first since this is where I primarily live on the DIS. This will be slightly long and sorta pathetic but here goes ...
I am looking for someone who will be in the Disney parks or resorts sometime in the future who can do me a big favor. A few years ago, when I was first dating my now husband, he traveled to DISNEY with his family and bought me back a Mickey Mouse mug that I cherished, of course, as he knew how much I love everything Disney.
A few months later, it was stolen off of my desk at work (I know, RIDICULOUS, but it happened). I was devastated, but we had a trip to FL planned so we were going to a character meal at the Grand Floridian and while I was in the restroom, he went into the store and found the same exact mug and purchased it for me (for the 2nd time) and surprised me with it the second I returned from the restroom.
I was so excited to see that it was finally replaced and when I was putting it back in the bag, I was bent over since the kids were all sitting on the floor and when I picked the bag back up, it slipped out of my hands and hit the floor and the mug smashed into pieces inside the bag.
Of course, feeling that the mug was now cursed and I was just NOT meant to own it, I went fleeing crying into the bathroom very upset, lol. When I returned, I saw that my loving husband to be had gone back into the store and explained what happened and they graciously replaced it for him. Needless to say, he carried it for the rest of the evening.
That was 4 years ago and now fast foward to yesterday ... I just left my job due to a back related injury and they sent all of my stuff via courier to my home and when I opened the box, I saw the mug that I hadn't seen in 6 months since being out on short term disability and I immediately washed it and went to put it away and as I was lifting it up to the shelf, I thought to myself how AWFUL it would be if I broke it ... and at that very second, it slipped out of my hand and smashed into what seemed like 1000 pieces on my granite countertop. I cried. I just broke down and cried. I retrieved my husband from the garage and showed him the million porcelain pieces on the counter and he just held me, stifling a laugh while I cried.
So now I am turning to my DIS friends ... hoping that someone might be planning a trip to FL soon (as sadly, we are not) that might be able to see if this mug is still for sale and purchase one for me and ship it to me. I will of course pay for every penny of the mug and insurance and packing supplies, etc.
I know that it is a tall order, but if anyone is willing to help me, despite the fact that you are all probably thinking that it's time I just quit while I'm ahead ... before I actually hurt myself or something, but I would appreciate it so much. If I ever own this mug again, I will probably put it up on a shelf somewhere in the house and never even use it ... never even touch it, now that I think of it ... just look it.
I can PM a picture of it to anyone who would be willing to help out ... thank you!!
