On my upcoming trip, I will be having 2 counter service meals in MK, 1 in Epcot, and 1 in MGM. I definitely have not tried all the counter service places in the parks, and would like to try a few new things this trip. Give me your best suggestions on CS meals in each of these parks.

Thanks!

MK - Columbia Harbour House
Cosmic Ray's
Pecos Bill
Pinnochios

EPCOT - Sunshine Seasons
Yorkshire Fish & Chips
(any CS places in World Showcase)

AK - Flame Tree BBQ
Tusker House

MGM - Backlot Express

We ate at the ABC comissary in MGM and were very plesently surprised with the food. I had a cuban sandwich which was great with banana chips. The Mac nut tart was really good as was the chocolate mousse.

I'm glad to hear that about the commissary. I have looked at the menu before and thought a few things sounded good, but have been told that the food wasn't that great. I love cuban sandwiches, so I may give that a try.

In MK try Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station and Columbia Harbor House. For Epcot try either Yakitori House in Japan or Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco. This way you can avoid "normal" fast food.

MK: Pecos Bills (which was open last week, even though it gets listed as "seasonal")

Epcot: Tangierine Cafe (in Morocco) -- don't be put off if the items seem unfamilar -- this is just about the very best CS food that there is.

MGM: Studio Catering Company (if you're going in Dec., this is the only place I ever saw hot cider, and it was delightful -- wraps are great, too).

MK - We love Columbia Harbour House. I think the lighthouse sandwich (hummus with tomato and broccoli slaw) is delicious, and my family thinks the anchors aweigh sandwich (tuna) is very yummy. They also have great clam chowder and vegetarian chili.

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons and Tangerine Cafe both have great food, and not your typical counter service.

MGM - We don't usually eat counter service at MGM, but I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Toy Story Pizza Planet this trip. Nothing extraordinary, but much better than the nasty food I had at ABC Commissary last December.

I just ate at the Commissary, and quite frankly, it was the worst chicken curry I have ever had. Edible, but that was about it. I am glad that Disney is trying to expand a bit, but they have to get a better recipe!

I don't do much counter service inside the parks. I prefer places like Earl of Sandwich, Cheesecake Factory Express, Wolfgang Pucks - okay, Tangerine Cafe is very nice, that is the one I really like at Epcot. Boardwalk Pizza, Coronado and Pop Century food courts...I can't think of too many in-park counter service restaurants that match the quality of the places I just listed. Oh - I have walked through Seasons, and the food actually looked great. I have not tried it.

tangerine and sommerset in epcot. carry out fish and chips is good but last time we went they closed the seating area around 6 so there was no place to sit down to eat which is kind of dumb imo
only counter we have tried at mk recently was casey's which was good.
ak tusker house was good and the pizza at pizza fari was ok, at least the crust was chewy and not cardboard
wodlgang express wins for pizza imo but that's at westside
pop cent food court was really good and had a wide variety ( better than por imo)
we had given up at mgm cs but might give the "re-menued"mid east place a try

Tangierine Cafe in Epcot is delicious. Try the chicken shwarma platter and finish with baklava!

Pepper Market at Coronado Springs is serious bang for your buck. I remember I had a massive "wet burrito" and my boyfriend had a massive prime rib for dinner. We were like, "This is a crazy awesome meal for counter service!" A far cry from burgers and fries.

I'll have to agree with what others have said about the Columbia Harbour House. Yummy!! Cosmic Rays and Pecos Bills ren't bad either. All the extras you can load on your burgers is great.

I had the lamb & chicken combo at tangerine cafe-I thought is was very good, and it was enough food for two. I believe it cost $10. :wizard:
