Need help looking for best way to do this...

Decided yesterday to book flights so we could spend Christmas with family in New Smyrna Beach. I also decided to sneak a 3 day stay at CSR in the beginning of the trip .

Here's the issue:
Transportation to and from...

I didn't really want to rent a vehicle to and from MCO, plus the prices were much higher than the neighborhood locations. So we thought about taking Magical Express upon arrival, then on check-out day, rent a car to drive down to New Smyrna from either the car care center or from Avis at Hilton DTD. If we do that, what would be the best way to get back to the airport, cab, Mears? If so, how much would we be looking at for fare? I also looked at renting from one location and dropping off at airport but again, the price was pretty high. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

No. I need to figure out how to get back to MCO from either the Hilton DTD or the Car Care Center? I would pick up and return from one of these locations.

the additional cost of getting from DTD or the Car Care center back to MCO would negate the charge for dropping off at the airport versus returning to renting location. And, I would also check around different Rental companies as I think some do not charge for returning somewhere other than the site of pickup.

One would think...

I was able to secure an Intermediate SUV from Avis at the Hilton DTD, pick up and return there was around $300 total for 8 days. Same vehicle with a pick up there but returning to airport was pricing at almost $200 more. I'm going to keep checking for sure.

You could have a car services take you back to MCO for about $60 or a cab for about the same cost. The Mears shuttle is around $20 pp, one way, pp.
Have you priced out a rental picking up, and returning, at MCO? You could take DME both ways. It might be cheaper that way.

I would try some of the discount codes from mousesavers. Some of the codes don't charge a drop fee. We rented from Dollar @ Wyndham DTD last summer and dropped at Port with no drop fee using a promo code.

OP, do you have family that live in NSB, or are you saying that you and other family will be staying in NSB?

If family lives there, is it not possible for them to pick you up and take you back?
It'd be cheaper to pay them for their time and gas than it would be to rent a vehicle.

My parents used to drive over to MCO from NSB to pick us up everytime we flew in.
It's not a bad drive on I-95 and the Beeline, or the Beachline, I think they call it now? It's the toll road that runs from I-95 to I-4, and goes right in front of MCO.

Makes for a good excuse to stop in Titusville for a nice meal at Dixie Crossroads!!
