We are planning a trip to Disney World in April. We have two children between the ages of 9-7, a boy and a girl. We have been to Disney before and have been to character meals, etc. We feel this time we need to be more organized. Does anyone have any suggestions for a schedule we could follow, places to go for dinner, etc. :sunny:

What I usually do is go to the Dis boards home page...print a copy of the park hours...make a schedule of what parks are open early, and we a willing to get up for, and what parks are open late(if you are staying on site). Then based on that I figure out what fireworks to schedule on which night(I usually schedule 2 opportunities per park), and then once I have that information that usually drives where we will be eating dinner, scheduling one Fantasmic Dinner package, and one with out the package. Lunches and breakfasts are in the room or counter service, and I usually schedule 2 character breakfasts for about 10:10

In order to pick restaurants, I look at the dining board, and borrow a book from our local library that is devoted to dining at WDW. A good place to start is pick your favorites from your last trip(2-4) and then fill in with a couple of new ones. Check the menu's at www.allearsnet.com and make sure you use the priorty seating caculator/report...I think it is on the Dis home page or at the dining part of allears.

My boys were 7 on our last trip ...they love
The Plaza Restaurant(MK), Hoop Dee Doo(ribs/chicken), Chef Mickey(cont), Beaches/cream(BC), Columbia Harbor House(MK), Turkey legs, Rainforest Cafe(ak), Tony's(mk), Toy Story Pizza(MGM), Beirgarten(Epcot)...They have eaten at other places, but not heard they say they want to go back. This trip we are trying, Wispering Canyon, 1900 park fare, Le Cellier, Brown Derby, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Pecos Bills and Teppanyaki.

Hi!

First of all be aware (as you know) that with children some of that planning can go out the window. That being said, the first thing I do is get the park schedules including EMH for each park. I book my Charachter Breakfasts with those park that do not have EMH that morning - this way you can enter the parks without the crowds. When I do not have an early breakfast I try to choose those parks that have EMH and try to get to those attractions that we want to ride - then take it easy throughout the day. Most importantly I have found out that a more enjoyable experience is one that is not rushed and just enjoy everything about the parks. We tend to rush to get to everything and not enjoy the roses... :scratchin Have fun!

Welcome to the DIS. and have a great vacation.

With kids, and for you too... remember to schedule some down time. My family calls it whatever time. Usually we plan that around an Animal Kingdom day. They close early enough that you could walk the Boardwalk, visit Downtown Disney, or hang out at your resort and do all the wonderful things resorts offer. We have found that we all really enjoy our whatever time and it keeps us charged up for the Parks.

I use the Unofficial guide to WDW, it has GREAT park strategies and good suggestions for place to eat and times to eat as well as which rides are the most crowded at what times of the day. The last time I used the Magic Kingdom plan, my sister-in-law and I drug our families in & out w/ parade by 3pm! :cool1: We did everything on our list, :cheer2: and boy,..were we proud! :teeth: THe kids all had a great time :Pinkbounc :bounce: b/c we were on a mission to "beat" everyone else to the rides, and thought it was great fun. Husbands, on the other hand were draggin ... :confused3 :rotfl:
But they weren't complainin when they were sittin in the pool at 3:30 enjoying the rest of the day!! ;)

I highly recommend the plans,... they are very good. ( we were at POFQ so we used early entery which helps TONS!)
GOOD LUCK! :wizard:
