I missed out on the AP discount that was announced a couple of weeks ago, but the man at CRO recommended I call periodically to try for the better rate. Now we need to adjust our dates by 1 day...which means we'll arrive April 14. The announcement said the rates were available beginning April 15. So my question is, do I need to reserve April 14 separately in order to still have hope of getting the AP rate for April 15-20? And if so can I link the ressies so that we might not have to actually change room? I'm prepared to change rooms if necessary to save the $25 per night.

Yes, you will need a separate reservation for the night that you can not apply the AP discount. To minimize the risk of having to change rooms, you should book the same room category/type that you have booked for your other reservation. If you book a different category/type to save additional money, you are more likely to have to switch. When you check in, tell them you have a continuing reservation and give them the second confirmation number. They will let you know if you have to change rooms or come to the desk to check in again.

If you book one reservation straight through from the 14th, you will be charged the rate for the 14th for all nights. You'll be much better off to split it. This is true for anyone who's reservation overlaps the change from peak to regular season, or regular to value season. If you don't split the reservation, you are charged the higher rate for the entire trip.
